Meyer Lemon Leaves being 'Cut'
Comments (5)Timrod: I did find a caterpillar in a curled up leaf of one of my begonias, removed it and have not had another problem. I initially thought that was the culprit but the plants aren't near each other, the caterpillar was in a curled up begonia leaf and the affected lemon leaves were cut in half. I will check the lemon at night. I can't post pictures because I removed the affected leaves. If it happens again, I will definitely post pictures. I have a lot of different plants and find this strange and frustrating....See MoreCitrus/fortunella feed questions
Comments (1)Depends on how long you are going to be gone. Citrus can live without food for quite awhile. As long as they get water and sun and do not freeze they will not die. I would just wait until you get back to feed so they do not get over fed. As to the ash it depends on the particle size of the material and what kind of ash it is. Basalt is different than andisite or pyroclastic flow material which is light and full of air. If it is larger than a bb you could use it for drainage i suppose. This is beyond my pay grade so i actually shouldn't speculate regarding this subject . LOL jon....See MoreHelp transplant Meyer lemon cuttings.
Comments (2)I think you can plant it now. Just keep the baggy on it for another few weeks to retain a moist environment. Make sure the soil is just moist and not overly wet. Keep in a sunny window. Gradually open the baggy a little bit every few weeks. By that time the roots should be growing into soil and the plant will acclimate to dryer air. I won't advise as to soil. Everyone has strong opinions. I just root my citrus cuttings in one part potting soil to two parts Perlite and in a baggy. Then I never have to worry about transplanting from water to soil. I wait to up-pot until the roots system is more extensive. This post was edited by dave_in_nova on Sat, Sep 13, 14 at 13:50...See MoreInterested in Growing Meyer Lemon Trees from Cuttings. Plz Help
Comments (1)Best time Summer thru Autumn. Take a tip cutting 2-3 inchec long, remove all but tip leaf. apply 0.1% IBA (Rooting hormone) stick in well drained soil & mist taking 25-50 days to root. There are many books with pictures on grafting techniques at any public library that would be the best way to teach yourself....See Morehoustontexas123
