Meyer lemon from seed - ut oh !!!

I have been giving my family and friends 'meyer lemon trees' grown from seeds from the fruit of my meyer. Since we all live in the northeast, folks have been dragging the increasingly containers inside for the winter and out for the summer, but no one has had any luck with flowers/fruit - my son's 3 year old tree is now 8' tall. I just read a line on this forum that meyers do not grow true from seed - that they are hybrids. Please, What, if any, blossoms/fruit can be expected from these 'not quite meyers'? Also, if they will bear fruit, how old do they have to be before they do so? When I deliver the bad news that the trees are not meyers, I like to be able to give some good news, too. Thank you for your advice and comments.
