I think it's time to start fertilizing with vinegar again! I have been dependent on the city water for months now due to no rain at all to fill my barrels.

Nice! Yeah my leaves DO NOT look that nice. I wonder if my hose water is to alkaline? Is that why you water with vinegar?

Yes, my water is very alkaline and it doesn't take long before I see the effects of it in all my plants. Adding the vinegar temporarily fixes this every time I water.

Tomorrow will be a big vinegar day for sure:-)

Thanks folks for the kind comments. And thank ya'll for how to track my crosses parentage. My son is following my career path as a Navy Diver. So after finishing Basic Engineering Training he'll report to Diving School. My daughter is a high school sophmore, and at 6 ft she's nearly my son's size. She says I just might have too many potted plants at my house. My ex said the same thing. Perhaps she's right. But funny thing how plants multiply.

Hi jroot you're right, i didn't follow through with your instructions...now, as i have already posted my I have figured it out (they were pretty straight forward weren't they :)) ...feeling kinda dumb here. Anyways, I got it to work and here it is. Thanks again! Hey Russ, I wasn't sure whether it was Sandia Joy or Sisa (i bought them both) so thanks for the ID. Actually the 3 yellow Dahlia are all the same flower. The white is either Prince Charming or All Triumph (again, i ordered 2 super similar bulbs. The pink is either Park Princess or Little Missy (2 similar choices again). I labeled everyone when i planted. Then they grew...oh well, i'll have an August surprise. and Yes, i did order with Swan. Wowee, you'll fit right in here girl! Those are gorgeous. Got smoky mountain autumn this yr., but still no scapes, looks like I may have to wait untill next yr. to see its pretty face. Isn't it funny that the blooms are so big on such a short plant. I love the color. You sure do have some fancy ones! May I also say that the plant label on the SMA is a nice one too! I have the dumb old little white plastic ones from Walmart, they are starting to fade already! Guess its a good thing Ive spent so much time out there that I know where every one is. Next spring when the ground is bare will be the problem. Thanks for your lovely pics! -Jessica

Lovely garden shots! I especially like the North bed. My DH would sure appreciate that one, he complains that here it is daylilies-daylilies and daylilies again :) And I don't have that many!, it's just a small yard. My favorite is Siloam Ethel Smith! Mine had several scapes but they all dried out. I like that one the most when it opens several flowers at once.

Im thinking I need a PH meter for sure. I wish I never sold the Ph pen I had for my hydro setup. I think my water might be alkaline. Either that or I have been totally neglecting my citrus ;-)

Beautiful citrus trees, Mike! Wow, your Kishu is so very happy! Very pretty tree, and your Oro Blanco is really, really nice. Hope you can eat the Oro Blanco, it really is pretty sweet. If it's just too acidic for you, try adding a Cocktail pummelo hybrid to your collection. It is even sweeter, but still has a grapefruit taste. Thanks for sharing, your trees look so nice and green. We have had prolonged chilly temps and rain, so my poor citrus still look very chorotic. It's so interesting - my oranges look the best, some are completely unaffected. Next my mandarins. Then, my Rio Red grapefruit trees, which both look actually quite good. But any of my really tropical trees, or my pummelos are struggling. We'll have to see if I can actually grow them in my yard. I may have to really do some research. My Ortanique, Chironja, Tahitian pummelo and even my Valentine pummelo are all struggling. Hoping they will snap out of it once we get some warmer weather.

Believe me when I tell you that keeping them healthy doesn't come easy all winter. I am grateful it is warm enough to bring them outside to wash them off and expose them to the rain:-)

Patty, you will be getting an e-mail from me very soon:-)....Where can I get a 'Cocktail Tree' Patty? I would love to try one of these. I am sorry to hear of your weather these days. Sheesh. I can't wait to see your trees once they green up for you. And I thought that your area had the perfect conditions for citrus all year long.lol

Olympia, many are grafted and some are on their own roots. I love them both:-)

Blaze! It is fun..lol I love seeing the difference in just a few days once I start adding the vinegar:-)

Beautiful Mike- So inspirational!

I have a branch I will need to remove from one of my Meyers hopefully next spring. Would I be able to root that? That would be very interesting, something I would love to try too! I will have to do more research on that!

Great pictures as always! I wish I had your green thumb...especially with sweet citrus. They just don't do as well for me.

I know this is O.T. for this forum but I will be starting another garden project here in a week or so. I will be installing my first ever strawberry bed! I am very excited. I had been looking locally for good deals on bare root crowns but nothing was panning out. Our local WalMart had them in bags, 25 for $2.99 but you know, you pay for what you get. I had a feeling they were probobly poor quality and on inspection, I realized that each of the 3 or 4 of the bags I inspected, the crowns were all brown and totally dead!

I truly feel bad for the beginner gardeners who buy these bagged strawberry crowns. The really sad thing is that WalMart sells TONS of bagged plants, not only flowers, and fruits, but also ornamentals such as hosta. I never will buy these. I gave one shot a year ago. It was this really pretty oak leaf bleeding heart. All the roots were dead and I had to fight with the company to send me a replacement.

So frusrtating! I ordered my strawberry crowns from Burpee. Mike if your wanting any fruit, veggie, or garden supply, you should check them out. I recieved $10 off buy going to there website and using there promotional codes!
