Resin, the third pic is from a hill just above Juneau. You take a tram up to it from the port in Juneau. There are a couple of miles of walking paths and it is kind of a "developed" area for lack of a better term. Its likely that trees were cut down at some point. The last photo, I'm not sure about. It is from Tracy Arm. There were a number of areas like this along the fjord. Thanks for the clarification on the Tsuga. They kept on saying Sitka Spruce and Western Hemlock were the predominent species so I guess I just assumed. Thanks, Dan

Well, if ya know those other gentlemen, and trust them, it would probably be alright to go with them, if they have their own campers! In this day and age, you can't be too careful with that kind of thing! There are charlatans out there who will relieve you of everything, including yer camper, and life, if need be! A good thing to do would be to check with Camping World! they can advise you as to the rigors of driving a motor home to Alasks, which is not a light undertaking! And, you'd better be taking some honey and plenty of money, if you go! The Good Sam Club would be good at giving advice, but you have to belong to the club, which is a very good investment! Good Sam has a very good road service deal, should you have a less than 5 yr. old coach! The road service insurance is a very good investment! If you have to be towed off the highway way out there, the locals have you at their mercy, and you'll pay thru the nose to get it towed and fixed! From some of the things i have learned over the years, there are cheaters everywhere! You should be able to make minor repairs to your coach if the need arises. Uxorial, I used an Olympus digital camera. And yes, the cold affected the camera. It fogged up the lenses inside the camera and occasionally it wouldn't operate at all but that was rare. I kept it tucked inside my jacket whenever I wasn't using it. I also noticed that none of my photos are as crisp and clear as they have been previously. One of the gals I traveled with had all kinds of problems with her little camera (can't remember which one it was). Hers shut down altogether a good deal of the time and she was going through batteries at a ridiculous rate. I gave her one of my hand warmers to wrap around the camera on a particularly cold photo op day. It really helped. I went through more batteries than usual as well but not as bad as hers. She'd take 10 pictures and her batteries were dead. I'm sure Casey who takes all the wonderful photos in cold, icy Newfoundland can shed some more light on this problem. Jodi-
