Thank you all for your help! I do have it in a window that gets alot of afternoon sun. I live in upstate NY area so it does stay indoors except for in the summer, I put it out on the deck when I'm home and the sun is shining. The root looked a little exposed so I set it in a little deeper in the pot and put more cactus soil in to help. I have had this plant for over two years and it hasn't grown at all but never looked brown, dried out and (dying looking) until I transplanted it. That's why I went to the experts for help!:) I hope it is just adjusting to it's new pot and will bounce back. As for the soil, shouldn't it be in a cactus potting soil? That is what I read online I thought?? I would definately switch out the soil if it will be happier in something else. Any more tips would be great and I thank you for all of your help!! Cricket I agree with pirate_girl . I consider myself to have a green thumb and every Spring I cannot wait to put my plants outside for the summer and it never fails I get some that seem to want to start to die. Even the plants that I have in the shade no sun at all but just the amount of light outside is stronger than they received indoors. I would put them on the porch and slow down on the water. If you could post a pic you could probably get a lot of advice there are some really smart people around here. I admit I am not one of them. I just love plants and can only share with you my experience of what has happened to mine.

Bill has given you excellent advice on your first thread, and it's a good thing you posted photos. I agree with him that the pot is way too big and the plant is getting too much water. What size was the pot you took the plant out of? Were the roots completely filling the pot or was there still loose soil in the pot? If the roots were completely filling the pot so it needed to be repotted, then the new pot should only be about 1" bigger in diameter. That is, if the old pot was 3", then the new one should be no bigger than 4". If there was still loose soil around the roots in the old pot, then I would put the plant back in that pot. It was not ready for repotting. Repotting to a bigger pot assumes that the plant is in active growth and the roots will spread into the new soil. This plant is stressed and unhappy and is not about to leap into rapid growth. I don't know if you can still save this plant, but my feeling is that you will definitely lose it if you keep it in the large pot. Claire

The cactus mix can still hold a lot of moisture. You should add some perlite in it to lighten the mix and make it more free draining. I dont really have advice about replanting it but you might want to post a question about what you can do to save it on the "cactus and succulent" forum.
