Yellow wood sorrel is a very small plant...most likely found as a weed in planting beds or even in the lawn. Their seed pods are teensy.

Thanks for responding. This plant gets up to 2 or 3 feet, it has clover like, light green leaves that fold up together and small yellow flowers. Just now these plants are bearing long slender green beanpods. Once they are ripe, the seeds are dark brown and shiny and very odd looking irregular shapes. The plant is in a loose mound form. Hope this helps.

something makes me think of partridge pea - though I wouldn't describe the leaves as "clover like".

cribscreek, there are quite a few yellow blooming leguminous plants. Without an image, or a detailed description, it might be difficult to narrow yours down accurately.

Is this plant blooming now, or did it do so earlier in the summer?

Sounds like sicklepod, coffee bean. Senna obtusifolia.

ichabod, you're a wealth of info. That photo link is great. All this time I thought these same plants sprouting up into the beds and lawn (just after the house was built) were soybean plants. This area used to be a soybean field.

Thanks for the input. I checked each entry, but nothing matches so far. I'll come back and post what it is, that is if I can find it. The only description I can give is that is looks like oxalis except bigger and the small yellow flowers are borne at the stalk. The color is very light green, almost chartruese and thats about it. Thank you for your info.
