How can I encourage Epis to flower?

Hi,

I have several Epis. Most are oxypetalum, one is guatamalense, a couple I am not sure of id. The Epi guatamalense is not night-blooming; it flowers every year with many flowers.

The others, however, bloom only sporadically. Last week I stayed up until 2am watching the fabulous bloom on one of the Epi oxypetalum plants. If I am lucky, one of the plants will bloom each summer, but not the others.

So what is your advice to encourage blooming? Is it plant size, root bound plant, amount of sun or fertilizer or is it just magic? (as I am starting to believe!)

Do they only bloom on new growth? I hope someone can tell me what has worked for them.

Thanks,

Elsie
