Do you remember your first time?

I enjoy it every single time with each Brug that blooms for me for the first time. It is amazing all the big and small differences each and every single one has.

Here is the Candida double White. Just think. Until Suzie helped me notice that it is a Candida I got from Eddie and the Order confirmed it. I just did not see it in my newbie stage..you could say I was inexperienced roflmao.

I thought I had a 2 skirted white NOID. I LIKE those darn it lol

Yes.. I guess the first bloom is always the best.. But I get excited at every flush.. even if it is the 4th...LOL

Okay, I wasn't going to do this thread, but oh well. I don't count "spin the bottle" or any of that. The first one I remember, that sent me over the moon, was from a boy named Dean. We met at the movie theater. He was a friend of someone I knew, and we were all going to the movies. I was 12; he was 13. He went to some private military academy. He kissed like he was born to it. I felt like I was melting in his arms. He invited me to his school's cotillion ball. I got all dressed up; he was in uniform. His mom drove. I won the centerpiece, and got kissed again at the dance. He was not particularly handsome, but oh so charming. And 40 years later I still remember his kisses.

My funniest experience in an aircraft happened while I was stationed in Germany. The Air Force used to use a Kaman HH43 helicopter for an emergency responce crash vehicle. They had a huge 6ft diameter round metal pressure sphere that was loaded with firefighting foam which they carried on a hook under the helicopter. Two firemen were inside the helicopter with the Asbestos firesuites on. When an aircraft crashed they would fly in quickly and set the firebottle down and the firemen would jump out and grab the foam line, then the helicopter would hover over the burning aircraft using the downdraft to blow the flames back while the firemen laid down a path of foam till they could get to the aircraft and pull the crew out. One day my buddy, who was a crewchief on the helicopter called me and said they were going up on a training flight and asked if I would like to ride along, so off I went. As I boarded the helicopter I saw the pilot & co-pilot up front, my buddy, the crew chief, two firemen and another guy who worked at the base chapel that was coming along for the ride. We were all seated in the back while the helicopter just flew around in circles close to the base when suddenly we heard a radio call on our headphones. They had a crippled F4 Phantom coming in with an engine fire, so the pilot told us he had to go back and hook up the firebottle and while they were hooking it up I and the guy from the chapel would have to jump off. The chopper landed and while we were jumping off one of the ground crew hooked the cable on the lifting hook and the chopper took off again, but when it was about 50ft off the ground one of the firemen jumped out, bouncing off the ground from 50ft and broke his leg. I didn't have a clue as to why he just mysteriously jumped out, but later that afternoon while sitting in the NCO club my buddy the crew chief came in and he told me. It seems that while we were flying around the guy from the chapel had got airsick, but not wanting to appear like a whimp to the other guys onboard he didn't ask for a burp bag, instead, he had barfed in the firemens boot and while we were jumping off the firemen was pulling his boots on. By the time he realized that the guy had barfed in his boot he tore off after the guy without even thinking and jumped out....LOL

I have a sample of unsealed 12 x 12 polished (the store didn't have honed) Carrara tile that I intentionally abuse. I haven't done the scientific tests that others have tried in different threads, but here is what I can relay: the purpoted Meg Ryan treatment does very little to age marble quickly. Plain white vinegar is best for quick etching/honing. The only problem is I soaked a Bounty paper towel with vinegar and left on the marble for a few hours, so now I have a tiny Bounty pattern etched on it. I have "spilled" red wine, tomatoes, olive oil, lemon juice and anything else that happened to be at hand - nothing stained the marble. Some liquids will create a darker pattern that we tend to think of as etching, but after wiping the spill, it eventually dries and becomes unnoticeable. I think this is what Carriea has experienced. I wouldn't advise anyone to try to hone your polished marble with vinegar or any other acid. I think you would be better of starting with a honed slab and letting it age by living with it and using it.

I'm not sure it was my first day of school but it was definitely one of the first days of kindergarten. My cousin has just moved to my town and we were fast friends. We ruled the kindergarten classroom because we were the only ones that knew someone. Our mom's had to have the teachers put us in different classrooms after kindergarten because we wouldn't let anyone else play with us and we were very bossy. I'm not sure my mom did the right thing on that one. Both of us were very shy after that and didn't make friends easily until much later in school. My DH remembers his first days vividly. His mom walked him and his twin brother to school and they both followed her back home. They didn't want to stay there. This went on for several days and she'd walk them both back to school only to get home and find them back at home. Finally one day when they showed up yet again at home, she put them outside (it was a cold day) and wouldn't let them back in. They finally got cold and walked to school and stayed the rest of the time. I think that is the funniest thing ever. I can just imagine getting home after taking the little rascals to school only to find that they'd beat her home. Today they'd probably call social services or something.

I still get excited to see each bloom...They are so pretty...I love putting them outside after winter/spring and wait patiently for them to bloom.

Knotz I will have cuttings from this one. Since one of them I leave in the ground and it has I think 3 or 4 nice long stems. You want one of those?

I do not concider myself a newbie anymore after I am getting so many good growing advice from here. The first year was so easy thanks to everyone here! Now you know that I READ a lot of threads :-)

It is a beauty. I was rushing at work to be smart mouth and didn't even get to comment on how pretty it was. It looks like more than a double to me, lol. I watch too many movies, lol. My first time wasn't really very memorable and kind of boring so I made up a funner version, lol. You are doing an incredible job with the brugs and I am jealous, lol. I wish I didn't have to work as much like last year. I liked having a day or two off during the work just to work on my plants. I am never going to get everything tended to for the winter. Gonna have to make John stay home and help me this weekend I guess. Everything is on its own for this little cold spell coming up I guess.

WEll.....I haven't had a first time .... that is no brug has bloomed for me yet. But I just got started so maybe next year and I hope it will be worth the wait!!!!

Made me look and yes it did make me smile. I agree with the others here, it's hard to believe that you just got into brugs this past spring. Look at all your beautiful blooms. I have to admit my first season didn't turn out as well as yours did. I do have to say each time my one brug bloomed (twice) it was exciting. I hope I learn more to have a better brug season next year. Your double white is amazing! I have a Candida double white but its still a baby...maybe next year it will bloom and seeing your bloom I'm already getting excited about my first time with it. lol

I rember the first time! It was SO big and oh The smells.
I walked up to it and had the biggest grin ever!
My first time was with Dr. Suess. Hes old but oh so good!

Mike you're my kind of man....still with the same one *g* But I don't blame you. As she is a beauty and hard to resist.

I still got lots to learn. To my advantage goes that I do not have to work at a paying job lol. Which made it vey easy to get to know the angels and their habits etc.

But most of all is being here that made me understand a lot about the needs and warning signs if things can and will go wrong with them. So you all are part of my first season's success.

Joyce I am sure next year you will see blooms!

I have seen the most amazing single blooms..flushes in this forum by so many people that are fairly new. It's not just me ;-)
