My Adenium Collection

I thought I'd post a few photos of my adenium collection I have in Ft. Myers, Florida. They're doing well aside from the fact that I've had snail damage on a few of them. Hopefully the damage to the caudex will heal with time. My nephew Andrew is in the photos to give you an idea of the plant size. Most of these were bought from Ken Wall of Green Mind Growers Com.

This is a Manee Nin adenium and I don't think there are too many of this one in the states. Translated from Thai it mans Dark Jewel and the new foliage and buds are a dark purplish color.

The large adenium is a Super Noble Concubine. The smaller one to the left is a Star Of Yellow Dream and the last one (or first one in the picture) is a Daeng Siam.

The second adenium from the left is a Super Big Chubbiness originating in Taiwan and the tall one beside it is a Star Of Happiness. The third one from the right in

the orange pot is a Double Pink. The one to the left of that is a small Kaleidoscope. I'm not certain of the other three.

What beautiful plants. Here in Ohio you can only dream of having such grand plants on your patio.,let alone being able to even buy one.I am trying my luck at growing seeds ,it will be a few years before I can do any bragging.best of luck with your plants

You could certainly grow adeniums in Ohio....even these larger ones. Put them in a sunny or bright window in the winter and they'll do fine. They'll drop leaves but they will survive. I know because I live in the Pittsburgh area. The adeniums are now at my home in Ft. Myers but before I moved them many lived up here and did just fine.

Lonnie, I am so glad you got good ones from Chaya. In few weeks with full head of leaves, they will look much better and ready for second blooming season. Those look very nice and very big......no place with better price, don't you think? p.s. I emailed Chaya before your arrival and he told me I will give me 90% commission.......on your total purchase....LOL.....

very interesting to read through this thread and find folks that are so knowledgeable and show some of us (like myself) that are beginners that growing from seeds can work in different ways. I planted seeds in a rectangular plastic container/planter and put about 35 seeds, about 40% perlite and rest potting soil. I did this on 2/26 and it's now 3/8... I've seen nothing.. Im in southern california and have read different threads here on GW and thought i'd be in luck since it looks and sounds pretty simple. I stored about 25 or 30 seeds in the fridge hoping i'd try this again with a different method. i've sprayed a little water almost everyday to keep a little moist but not soaked. it's been in full sun about 5 hours in a day, i've now put it in a room with sun and about 65 to 70 degrees or so, it did rain a couple nights ago and I left it to get wet. thanks for any help, comments, advice.... Yes they do look awesome. I really like the bright orange for some reason (probably because I am a Florida Gator, LOL). I like the "weathered" look of the caudex on some also. If anybody finds a reliable source, please post! Looking to pick some up to add to the ever growing collection (pun intended).

Wow...Those are Beautiful Ray! Very impressive...I love some of your pots especially the round solid black one. May I ask where you purchased that one from. I've been looking for one about that size for my Large DR and haven't found one locally...I'm trying to avoid ordering online since I HATE paying shipping on a large and heavy pot.

How long have you had them? I love them all!

The round black pot I had shipped by Chris Durham of durhambotanicals.com. It's a great adenium pot and appears to be made of hard rubber. I see that your favorite forum is Tropical Fruit and I have a post on that forum also if you care to look:

Beautiful collection!!!

I just got the nerve to repot my last one into the gritty mix...for some reason i was dragging my feet about this one. It is my largest and i finaly did it this morning...i added some pics to my thread.."Ken NY here are ur babies.." My DR's are not as large as yours, but i do have a few..i love to see the different personalities each one has...

I LOVE tropical fruits and have several myself. Commented on your post on that forum...beautiful trees, they're amazing!

BTW Ray, I went to durhambotanicals.com and went to the Pots link and NONE showed up...am I missing something or did they not have them any longer? I was going to see how much that hard rubber black one you have and what it cost to ship to me...but couldn't pull it up on their website...Any idea why its not showing up? Thanks!

Ray, those desert roses of your are lovely. I am with Nancy, I also loved your pots. Do you have any pix when they in fully bloom. I wanted to see the one with double bloom you have.
