OT : Urgent offer for a royal poinsettia tree

I have 4 from seeds grown out last winter. One in the ground...of course almost 5 feet tall. The second in a huge pot after I took Andrew's gold out of it. Great size now too. I will keep those 2. Leave one in the ground...even though they are not hardy for my zone. The 2nd one goes in the garage or shed. 3rd one I am mailing off to Florida today but if there is anybody interested in having the 4th one..I will not add it to that package today and mail it to you

You have about only 2 hours to reply...sorry but I did not know I was going to pack the box today or WHAT lol

THANK YOU Brandon for an answer to the pruning question!!!! Will be sure to keep the cuts above ground level!! And to clarify what you and Ken are saying about a view to the utility boxes- ...actually, forget it... I just typed out a huge long explanation that I just deleted...lol ...in short (or @ least shortER) with the height of our deck and where our seating is located, the size of the smokebush, and my intentions (clearly understood at least in my own head- haha) don't worry guys, I'll be fine. I always envisioned a multi-stemmed tree, which would still hide the view of the utility boxes. ...don't think I will end up trying to do tree-form after all but do plan on pruning off many shoots and thin the boy down! as always, i appreciate the input from you all :)

FREE Web sites for genealogy research: rootsweb.ancestry.com--forums organized by surname, locality, and other topics such as royal ancestry, etc., originally not affiliated with ancestry, but it is STILL free, and has archived posts going back to the 1990s. usgenweb.org subdivides by states and counties, also message boards where inquiries can be posted. genealogy.com has free surname and locality forums. familysearch.org contains the LDS church's International Genealogy Index, formerly only available on microfiche at branch Family History Libraries. cyndislist.com has a wealth of websites/links on many, many genealogy subjects. Treasure Maps website: google the name to get the right address, because it's one of those sub-sub-sub-divided ones that I'll probably screw up. Also, google the surname, and/or an entire name, alone or combined with terms like "family" and genealogy. If it's a name other than Smith or Jones, misspell it in creative ways. My great-grandfather's surname (Braman) was misspelled on the census as late as the 1930s! As far as Ancestry goes, I subscribe to the United States option, almost solely because of access to scanned images of the US Census. Looking at microfilm using a viewer left me dizzy and nauseated:b. You can search or browse the records, and enlarge the image to decipher handwriting. To me, it is worth the price, but that's a personal decision. Other than that, I have found some useful info in the paid databases, but not a whole lot. All Censuses are available at the regional branches of the National Archives, on microfilm. Sorry this is so lengthy, but this IS the heavily edited version, LOL.

Morning all! Fran, I put in a bit more postage than what it was for me to mail my package to you. I don't think that I'll get back what I sent because we have a lot of veggie growers here, BUT if by chanace you dont have enough postage I'd be happy to send more if you need it to get my package back to me. AWWE chocolate you beat me, Lucy if you ever come across any more will you please keep me in mind. I have been trying to grow them from seeds but I cant get them past 6 leaves, and now I'm out of seeds.lol I got them on my very frist trade.

Hey, Cassie, did you do the boiling water treatment to get them to germinate?
That's what I just read online!
I brought back about 8 seeds out of a small pod from Mexico for my DIL Sandy to try her hand at. She has a big greenhouse to work with in the winter. I'll tell her about the boiling water treatment, see if she will go for it! ;-)

Yep I did the boil water thing and then I kept them in warm water lol I got up all the time to make sure the water was warm. I did that for like 12 Hours and of corse I picked at night lol. I drove my boyfriend nuts. lolll and it works, they sprout right up I think I might have over watered them, but I find it hard to think I over watered them all. One dropped then they all slowly dropped one at a time, broke my heart. lol So I donÂt know. But they were going along good and then boom one day they just collapsed.

LOL, Cassie. in Mexico they drop on the pavement, which is the same as dropping them in boiling water. And the ambient air temp is just plain warm, all the time! Seed conditioning, au naturale !

Lucy, how bout you?? What did you do to your seeds?

I just soaked them for a while...as I found out through research back during winter sowing. they all popped up lol. I think those tropical seeds KNOW that I do not have a tropical zone for them here rofl. I have more tropical shrubs etc...but there I am not sure about the NAMES :-(

Got to love those hot climates to grow things the easy way.

I have several plants of them that I started this spring- they are about 1 1/2 feet high- they will die in my garden if I leave them- & I don't have a sunny window for them in the winter- want to trade a few brugs for them? Let me know!

AWE shoot! Thanks kasha , but I'm so new all I have are cuttings I got from Brenda B, and dirt_under_my_nails. Next year now, lol I hope to have so many I cant walk around in my houes at winter time.

Cassie I have a couple small RP saplings that I'm not planning on overwintering that I can send with the DD cuttings. They look pretty pathetic because I'd forgotten about them but are putting on new growth and will do just fine with care. Let me know if you want them.

Cassie I would go for it. Karyn I have found out that this one does take a lot of beating...and comes back just fine while in pots. The one in the ground...well it just does super duper!!
