OT: POTD : Brugs are not the only one liking the cooler weather

Good Morning

Keeping it short this morning.

Do I hear a YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH? rofl

Kept Maddy over night because her school had spooky Science Night and she would have missed out if she would have went home. We had lots of fun.

But my fun biggest joy was in the morning yesterday when I saw that my Fuchsia had 2 blooms.

Got to look up the name. Thought they would all die over the summer and never bothered to make permanent name tags :-(

So what did I learn from this?

NEVER GIVE UP!!

Susan those are beautiful! How great to share that love with so many of my friends! good morning Pat lol Karyn I am not sure...let me count them. I had bought a few at the last Co-Op Ryan co hosted at Dave's. ha ha ha so is DH bringing them home with a tractor trailer? lol My heart almost broke when I saw that the sticks to hold the stems...were poked right into the bulb from you :-( But I am not sure if you saw it...it had a BABY bulb and it is growing !!! :-) Lucy

Ooooh I do like that one very much. Have you ever ordered from this nursery? Thet have some gorgeous varieties. I stopped wintering tropical hibiscus over in the GH because of whiteflies but might have to start making exceptions. I do hope we don't have such an unseasonably cold winter and spring this year and if I have another 3 day power outage during a stretch of single digit temps I'll know someone is trying to tell me something. lol Here is a link that might be useful: Hidden Valley

There's so little left growing outside around here. The trees are almost completely bare as well. karyn, This is why I'm concentrating on putting in lots of broad-leaved evergreens on my property. My Chinese Evergreen oak, Live Oaks, hollies, Cherry laurels, euonymous, osmanthuses, palms, evergreen viburnums,lorapetalum, evergreen ferns, etc keep our yard green all winter! Also, I have four camellias in full bloom now! -- Spring's Promise, Winter's Joy, unnamed white, and Winter's Fire. My Ashton's Supreme has not started yet, but will soon. Some pink is peaking out of the buds.

Tally IS my name, it's my real name, not short for anything, not a nickname. I sign Tally HO! cause it's easy to remember. I do love this plant. It blooms twice a year for us. And it smells great. Planted one in my moms yard also. We're about 10-15 degrees colder than usual this year. There has been ICE in the dog bowl on the back deck TWICE this year! HORRORS! We call each other if we have ice it's such a rare event. And twice in one year!! Ick! I'm a big weenie when it comes to temps, I'll take 100 hot and humid anyday over cold. Tally HO!

Those are lovely fuchsia blooms, Lucy. Are they indoors or out? I too thought that they would die in our heat. Rain and storms here too.

That's beautiful! I love Fuschias, but they don't love heat or alkaline soil. Maybe I'll try one again next spring.

Pam they are outdoors. I only took it in for the picture. Was to lazy to get the camera and go back outside right away lol

Shirley I KNOW. I will see which ones will make it through the winter and next summer. Then I can let you know or even share a cutting?!

yupp, it sure is. Sure worth it paying some extra attention to them during the summer. I sure will try to make them a lot happier next season. They are awesome!
