The flowers are very small, no more than 3/16" in diameter. They range from white to pink and have a faint smell similar to daisies. When I get home from work I'll post some pictures if no else has.

Unfortunately, they are notoriously stingy bloomers. They need lots of sun and age to really have a chance at flowers. Pulling it off in NY would be quite a a feat. Likewise, potted plants are even less likely to flower. Someone once told me that a plant needs a trunk of at least 2" or 3" in diameter to have any hope of flowering, but I have no idea how true that really is. However, the only Jade of mine that blooms is a really big cutting (3" diameter trunk) that including the age of the mother plant, is easily 50 years old.

All the same, you might wait to hear from some other Crassula fans around here before you get too discouraged. In particular, Norma is far more experienced with these than I, and PirateGirl has some real experience growing them in your neck of the woods...

You are talking about Crassula Ovata? they look like little 5 pointed stars like a brides bouquet usually flower in late winter early spring, depending where you live and temperatures also species, variety. I have 22 different. Crasulady2

Apparently I don't have a single shot of a Crassula ovata in flower! Especially hard to believe seeing as I live in pretty much the Jade capital of the world... Thankfully, google pulled through with plenty of pictures.

Don't dispair, June! You CAN get flowers, even in your northern climate. I grew Jades for over 30 years before I figured out the secret, gleaning it from Norma's posts. (Even though she's lucky to live in Calif...) Put your Jade outside as soon as the threat of frost passes. In fact, I put mine out/bring them in/put them out/bring them in...etc... when the temps start to warm. In other words, out during the day, in at night when it's likely to freeze. Once they're predicting temps above freezing at night, it stays out. Acclimate it into full sun over a few weeks. Let it stay in full sun all summer. Leave it out until they predict the first frost. Yes, let it be out there right down into the 30's, as long as it won't get below 32. Then bring it in. By mid-late December, you'll have flowers opening. It's a fabulous feeling to get a Jade to bloom up in the northern states! And here's what they look like...

Thanks to you all for the encouragement and the beautiful pictures! Definitely worth the challenge to see the blossoms up close and personal.

I'll make sure it gets cooled down but not frozen. It's in full sun inside, so I'll get it outdoors. Should anything 'happen' I'll post pictures!

The sunshine state should be able to get some jades to bloom although I'm never seen one blooming here. It seems that everyone I know grows them in the shade. I wonder how this whole growing in the shade got started.
I'm just now starting with some cutting so it will be a LONG time before I hope to see flowers.

I'd suspect it is something in the air in FLA, namely humidity. Where they come from is not known to be overly wet.
