Prune recovering trees?

Stan

After switching from Miracle Grow citrus-killing soil to gritty mix in November, my citrus expressed their surprise by dropping a lot of leaves. Thanks to the gritty mix, subsequent leaf loss has been almost nonexistent.

Now that SPRING is just about here, I can see the beginnings of new growth, but the twiggy skeleton with maybe 10 leaves looks "shabby". Should I prune down the non-leaf bearing sticks to a more reasonable compact shape, or just let nature take its' course? On one of them, a Meyer lemon, there a quite a few flower buds as well. Leave the buds to enjoy or take off for the trees' long-term health?

Thanks in advance
