Most flowers do fall off, then any that set fruit, most of them do fall as well as theres only so many the tree can keep it will drop any it doesnt want, they will also fall (especialy inside the house) with low air humidity

What type of fertiliser have you used/are you using? they need a good amount of a citrus fertiliser with micronutrients regularly when growing in a pot they need good nutrition before they set fruit to hold the fruit once its there, the foliage pro may suppliment the nutrients, but it will not replace the feeding through the roots regularly with a decent citrus feed, be sure you arent overwatering during the winter as with the roots at 68 degrees they will be using little water so should need very long times between waterings
Also with the roots at 68 degrees there should be no need for additional lighting as it will be growing very very slowly it may drop the leaves if you add extra light with no extra heat for the roots, better just to add no extra light

Is it still in 3 gallon pot? Mine is in a 15 ga. Mine is young too, probably 2-3 years. It flowered first in February 2009 and all summer and even still is blooming. I only have two lemons that made it and are beginning to turn. I don't water in winter but every two or three weeks. You can buy slow-release citrus tablets and bury them in the soil for fertilizer. It is in south-facing window as I am here in Southwest MO. Don't give up.

What is your soil? When is the last time you re-potted? Is it humid enough? Could just not be ready yet. Repot it in the spring and I bet you get fruit over the summer.

You've given me lots of points to consider, and good tips, too. I haven't repotted it since I bought it last May. I usually repot asap, but chose to wait with this one, as I lost two much smaller ones last spring and wanted to see how it went with this one. The two I had before gave me lemons and they looked pitiful. I figured this lush plant would have fruit on it by now, but it's waiting.

I am going to repot in spring into gritty mix. I'll try watering every ten days or so, and I think maybe I should give it a stronger solution of foliage pro. I was hoping that was all the fertilizer it needed, but maybe not.

I feel like it's humid enough, since there's condensation on the windows. I haven't measured it, though.

The soil could easily be the culprit.

I've noticed on my pepper plants that if I selectively prune the pods, the other pods develop
better. And then, once the pods have set, I snip any new flowers/buds that might compete with the
ripening fruit. Perhaps you could pre-emptively pull any fruit that looks like it's going to abort.

With fruit bonsai, the trees are often plucked of fruit completely, or allowed a very limited crop.

I would suggest 3 things to do that should change the plant's vitality for the better.

1. Repot into an appropriate sized container. If it is a two to three year old, I would put it in a 12" plastic pot.

I personally drill many 20-30 3/16" (or so) sized holes in the sides and bottom for aeration within the container. In one of the bottom drainage holes, I would put a wick, a 1/8" thin 100% cotton rope with a double knot tied to help keep it inside the container. When I take plant out after soaking and letting it drain, I put it on a stand for a day with a drip cup under the wick to catch the remainer or water still dripping out.

2- In this container use a mix of small bark (from dime to quarter size), perlite and Turface MVP.

Turface MVP can be bought by local distributor, google turface MVP, or on ebay- delivered at a premium price if your time is short. I put 4 to 5 parts bark- to 1 part perlite- to 1 part Turface MVP. Make sure that the items are screened for fines, small particles that need to be taken out. Insect screening securely nailed to a small frame should do.

3- Don't water this particular plant (espcially Meyers but to a lesser extent all citrus in general) until the pot, when you lift it, it quite light.

Some sites and people advocate using a water meter and various other methods, but the easist is to feel the weight of the pot. Additionally, check the leaves. When they seem like they are getting slightly wilty, this is the time to water. I use bathtub drenchings, so the plant really soaks it up. If you wait until slight wilt and then drench (the soil mix above drains quickly) the plant (at least my plant/s) almost always puts out new growth or blossoms right after. Also my plant room is quite dry, I would imagine that if you have a more humid environment, that it would take even longer for the soil to dry out.

As far as feeding, I use Foliage Pro with epsom salts (1tsp) and vinegar (1 TBSP). I use recommended concentration and use a spray bottle to spray a good bit on the top of the soil mix (aprx 1/4 cup). Spray I thnk is better because it moves through the soil slower than just just straight watering it in. I think it soaks in more. This I do maybe once every ten days or so.

Meyer lemon trees are notorious for failing to thrive, despite my/our best intentions. They seem to dislike extra attention. Mine have only really flourished since I have figured out this system (with the help of this forum)and pretty much let it go on autopilot. Little lemons dropping on a 2 or 3 year old tree is a early notice that something is going on that the plant does not like, rather than it being to young to bear fruit. I would suggest changing sooner rather than later. I imagine that after a transitional pause following replanting, your plant will take off. Best of luck! Laura

I have everything except enough perlite, and I hope I can substitute crushed granite for it. The feeding with epsom salts and vinegar is something I've heard of but didn't know the right amounts. Keep us updated on your progress. I have just started with key lime and planted a few grapefruit seeds for fun so I'm a novice with citrus as well. I think we should get before and after pictures too lol!
