tobina, I had the exact same problem with leaf drop on my IML. I had left the tree in the 1 gallon pot in which I purchased it in late 2007. I was watering it once a week but it always seemed to be dry. I took it out of the pot and found that it was TOTALLY root bound to a degree which I have not seen before. I have my IML inside in a south window and I thought it was a light issue but after seeing the roots I repotted it. I did a drastic re-pot as I had to cut the root ball to untangle some of the roots. I lost about 50% of my leaves (or more) and 50% of the blossoms before the repot. The tree is now in a much larger pot and is very happy. No more of the flowers have dropped and after the repot I only lost about another 5% of the leaves. I do fertilize my IML with weak seaweed/fish emulsion solution (1 tsp in a gallon water). I saw so many different techniques on keeping citrus indoors in pots that my head was swimming. I decided to take matters into my own hands -and boy am I ever glad I did. Next time I buy a citrus plant I will surely knock it out of the pot at the store to check the root ball. Good Luck with your Meyer. DL

Hmmm, I have the very same problem, the leaves look identical. I saw no mites, as I had checked closely, but, eventually the many leaves went yellow rapidly and then fell off, some did not higher up on the tree. This was a month or two ago, now the tree is outside, and grew several new leaves and buds, but the newer branches are weak and the leaves are thinner and not as green. I changed the potting material to an orchid mix/potting soil that is not supposed to hold water and it drains well... I am stumped. I did have some scale, nothing too bad and I cleaned them off with alcohol including some leaves, I thought maybe that caused the yellowing.. I check for new scale weekly. Toni, I am interested in why you say it's not a mineral deficiency, I, who is not knowledable about plants, would have thought it was, so I used azeal..azail..aezal..rhodadendron fert. I would like to know for the future, what makes you say it's not a deficiency?

I really fell in love with citrus last year. Bought one Meyer lemon and have already eaten three from the tree. So. . . bought another Meyer this spring and a Key Lime. I fertilized them all (very lightly, not even a handful of 'citrus tone') the oldest Meyer Lemon' leaves are turning yellow and are dropping off (this tree has tiny fertilized lemons on it and flowers still in bloom ). The second Meyer Lemon the youngest just has its leaves turning yellow and dropping off. The Key Lime tree is holding its own. (It arrived as a skinny topiary shape) I've only seen them grow in the Florida Keys as a bush. Was the tiny handful of fertilizer the culprit?? All three live outside during the summer. I am in Newport, RI and we have been getting tons of rain. They are all potted in Al's Gritty mix. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Mrs. G

400w is a lot for a 2 year old dwarf. Not too much just a lot. Like the previous poster said it will get used to it after the leaf drop. I have a 1000w hps over 9 citrus 2 avocado 3 seedling avocado 3 peppers a seedling cinnamon 5 seedling crillo cacao and a tiny pomegranete. So I am familiar with indoor growing of sub tropical and tropical plants. I noticed replicating a mediterrian climate has made the trees even more healthy. For me it's as easy as closing the heat duct in my grow room and door letting it get to the high 30's at night and high 50's in the day in winter. But I reconise that I got lucky that my temps in a non heated room are so ideal.
