I don't think it will heal, but, if you wanted to leave them the way it is, I don't think you're going to hurt the plant. I've heard that, if you want to get rid of those leaves, to cut a nick into them. This will cause the plant to pull the moisture back into the plant, and withering the leaf. The withered leaf can then be removed without damaging the plant. I've never tried this though. If you decide to cut the leaf off, I suggest sprinkling some cinnamon on the cut afterwards, it acts as an anti-fungal agent.

I would dump it out, see if any roots are alive, and if so, there is still hope. I personally plant aloes in a much more water - retentive mix than 'gritty mix', though some aloes do do well in that sort of mix. Aloes, particularly this time of year, can be very thirsty plants, tolerating, if not even loving, daily water (mine are planted in a clay soil and it can rain daily on them and they seem to love it... sadly not all like this sort of situation, but the large majority sure do).

I see in the last picture link that bag of cactus soil. Did you amend this soil when you potted your Aloes? It doesn't look like you added much perlite or gravel to the mix, but maybe you did. This soil can compact and dry out. Once it is dry, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to get it hydrated again. Water will run around the hard dry soil, but not through it. So then your plant is not getting the water you are giving it. I have had plants appear to have nice moist soil, but the soil around the roots was compacted and dry - meaning my plant was very thirsty. The leaves on your aloes look thin, making me think your plant is not getting the water. The recent rain may have soaked through any dried soil. Let's hope so! The color doesn't concern me as much as the thin leaves. These 2 plants had pretty much the same growing conditions. The one on the right did receive more of the evening sun. That one stayed brownish, but both had the plump leaves one expects to see.

Hi Eileen, Thanks for asking! My aloe plant is doing much better now in terms of hydration. Following the advice of hoovb, I changed the mix, put the plant outside for the summer in a wider pot, and kept careful watch. It seemed to stop declining, which was a relief. The leaves didn't really start to improve till I decided to submerge the entire planter when watering (for about 10 minutes each time), rather than pouring from the top. Around July last year — discovering that the roots were still mostly way too dried out — I repotted again with roughly 30% cactus soil mixed in with 70% grittier stuff (including pumice and bark), and put in a thicker cotton wick. I watered differently afterward, mostly from the top again, since the soil was different. Since then, the leaves have plumped back up. (Some of what I did went against instinct, but I tried to observe how my plant was reacting.) See attached photo of how the aloe is now — not as thirsty, though suffering from lack of light (a combo of winter and surrounding buildings, even though I use a grow light; btw, it doesn't live in that spot). I hope to correct that now that the season is changing, and it can go back on the balcony. It has a way to go toward full health. I credit hoovb's advice for setting my plant on the road to recovery, so those are good instructions to follow, especially regarding observing your plant closely and adjusting where needed.
