I always break down on this day. I was in tears driving Kyle to school remembering what it was like. I'm just a short distance outside of DC and the fear that we were going to get hit again like NYC was very real to us. Everyone was freaking out. I think that everyone, especially in the major metropolitan areas felt like they were a possible target. With the exception of Pearl Harbor nothing like that has ever happened in the US.

Kyle kept asking what was wrong and why was I crying? He's too young to understand but my older kids remember it. Do you remember exactly where you were and what you were doing that Tuesday morning when the reports started coming in? I do and always will.

It gives me chills to remember what I was doing that morning.....I had worked the night shift and took care of an commercial airline pilot. That morning just has news was breaking his friend also a pilot came to visit, I asked him if he had heard the news when he said no he and I stood in our break room and watched the TV just as news of the second plane hitting the twin towers was shown. We both stood there in shock and dismay and neither of us could speak. This man later found out that one of his friends was the pilot of one of the planes that hit the twin towers. Even though I don't remember his name, that moment will forever be etched in my memory.

Our flag hasn't come down since and is up in honor of my son who's in Iraq and to all those servicemen/women who are serving to keep us safe...God Bless them all.

For I REMEMBER how I felt when I saw it, sitting in my living room in Germany.
The horror and reaction that came over me by this tragedy was not any less as if I would have been in the US. You see, I have ALWAYS loved this Country from the first moment I set foot on it in -1975-.

Mary that is really a memory I believe you right away that it puts it all in a very different light when you remember that day. Like everyone who personally knew SOMEONE from 9/11

Brenda I believe that we ALL are praying and hoping that it will never ever happen again!!

I just know that if we would be able to do so, we would form a circle, lay our arms around each other and let the strength of our prayers and wishes go out to the world...for PEACE!!!

I cry too, whenever I think of the horror. Karyn, I thought the same thing about Philadelphia! My DH is a carpenter and works in tall office buildings all the time. That day he had no cell phone!

I remember we lived on a military base at the time. My husband was home on leave that day, he put on his uniform and went to work. We went into condition Delta, the highest possible. An armored vehicle with a machine gun on top drove up and down the street and I stayed in the house watching everything play out. That evening we walked over to HQ to watch them take down the flag. It would be two weeks before I left the base and I was amazed by the transformation with flags and patriotic signs everywhere.

I never get up and turn on the TV.. I did that day and saw the second plane hit the tower... I can tell you what I was wearing what my house smelled like and that my daughter called looking for a breathing machine for Gracie.. I will never forget.. I put a Flag up that day and a lady driving down the road stopped and thanked me...We Have a Flag flying and my thoughts and my daily Prayers are with those who were lost their family's and those who survived.. I also Have never forgotten the bombing in Okla City.. The memorial is Beautiful.. But still brings me to tears...

I remember well where I was when this tragedy happened. I just couldn't believe it, I was horrified.
I am an American by choice, and very proud of my country and all the courageous people who serve it.
My flag is flying high in memory of the fallen people and the ones still fighting for our freedom.

God Bless America!! I am also an American by choice and very proud. I remember very well that day.... My husband was in his way to airport to go to Philadelphia when my brother from NY called with the news. He new that my husband will fly to Philadelphia that day. I was with him on the phone when the towers collapsed. It was surreal , like a horror movie. I hope this will never happen again. We should never forget that day.
