OT: POTD: Have some sort of pretty grass growing

Good morning, good morning.

Was waiting for rain to hit. Hoping that I do not have to water.

But I gladly would continue to water if I could send all that water to California.

Like they say...there is always some place...someone worse off then you. So don't complain.

This one is the reason I did not weed the flowerbed. Cause I had just thrown the seeds in there and in the end when the weed grass and this grew...I did not know what THIS one would look like. So I let em all grow ha ha ha ha

P.S Behind the grass you can see the foliage of the tiny red orange blooming plant. The long stem had fallen down and it had new growth coming up all along the stem and looks real pretty now.

Morning Lucy! That looks like Ornamental Millet to me. My bet is you got those seeds from someone. All m ine I started frm seed last year, only about 3 came up dark..the rest green..bleck!
The year before that I had actually bought the plants from a nursery..they were supposed to be hardy, but they didnt even make it thru the summer..the squirrels kept digging them up :(

It is Purple Millet. It is a hybrid type of milet. If you keep the seeds for next year, some will grow purple and some green. I have grown some the last few years from my parrots leftover seed mix that I throw out for the wild birds. It was a new introduction "Texas Superstar" plant about 5 years ago.

Lucy, Zinnias are one of my favorite flowers too. I remember my mother and grandmother growing them when I was a little girl. I tried a different variety this year, the cactus-flowered ones and they are really pretty and different! I'm impresssed- so much so, that I will grow them again. Daniella I forgot to add that I DID find a bloom this morning on Candida double white...but it was a single. there might have been a skirt on the outside but all I saw was some burned brown stuff and DEEP in the throat...now don't anybody make any funny comments on that one roflmao...there could have been something else growing. However I did take lots of pictures of all the buds on different angels...so I am crossing my fingers and toes in hopes that I too can post angel pictures pretty soon. Lucy

Oh I am over the shock when I went outside this morning. Put it behind me and just going forward. Cleaned dead things up. Just cut some grass and it looks already better. The Lego shop was amazing. Unbelievable what they build out of Lego's. Kylie that would be SO GREAT! The hugs are waiting for ya :-) Shirley so glad that the cast is already coming off...Oh..came off. How do you feel? You put up with the cast for so long...the week will get by also :-) Siam no I did not. But did find a few bargains. Should be here tomorrow. DD send it off today and FedEx said it will get here tomorrow. Cassie what does ogopogo mean? Since you laughed...it must be a joke lol Eloise you are right. It was a lot easier this time with being able to come to join everyone daily. to ALL....THANKS...glad to be home. I am just not a big traveler lol Lucy

Very cool Lucy. I got some seeds for some kind of oriental green beans called yard long beans. A friend of John's gave me some and it looks like one could feed a family, lol. They were very good. Will grow some to eat next year. Planted John some cabbage and brocolli in a wading pool with holes poked in the bottom, lol. Closest thing I can manage to grow veggies right now with my allergies.

If you got it from me it's Purple Majesty Millet. Depending on the exposure the foliage can be green or purple but the spike is always purple.

Lucy, that pretty grass looks to me like a giant "plantain", I remember the ones growing wild in meadows out in the country. (Spitzwegerich)

I love that grass i had it, it is purple majest grass. its an annual and after the plants died i didnt resow seeds...
its really nice when it grows tall

haase I have not seen them in Germany. Then I moved here when I was very young and before then sure was not into growing grass, just laying in it roflmao

I only have this ONE...is the whole thing the SEED thing?

Dorothy I hope this WE is better for you then this day was.

Patty amazing the things that grow out of bird food. Isn't it lol. Got all these sunflowers and who knows what else growing because of it.

I do like this a lot and want to grow it again next year...MORE of it though.

I wish I could give the proper thank you to the seed donor...but I am not that good yet with seeds. THANKS does go here to the GW member though!
