OT: POTD: Back in time

good morning, good morning

As I was walking the garden with a flashlight just now, I saw that the NOID from Kristy has a new blossom and it is so gorgeous and lots darker then I ever remember from last year.

Only saw that because I went way back in the yard to the stinky bloomer, but this one will have to wait for another day to be shared with you.

So as I make my way back to the house and look at the gate, I see nothing but beans beans...and more beans.

Jack would love it here!!

So browsing for a picture of the day..knowing that I wanted to go back in time..I thought it would be nice to start with a picture of the beginning of the growing season for me.

Which started with this winter sowing. Well, since temps for some of you are winter like...I show you how much fun winter can bring us until we hopefully get a much better brugs season in 2010!!

There once was a BIG bean seed. Never seen anything like it before. Those 2 beans made their way from Kylie's house to mine and looked very happy to be here when I started to grow them.

As the 1st set of leaves came out, I said to myself: Oh oh I am in trouble! How will they make it until it is time to plant them outside?

Luckily one made it and I even planted it in the right place :-) It is growing very happily right there. Of course when I saw the bean grow...I KNEW what I had. No need to ask for the name. I mean how can I NOT remember lol

Taken from the OUTSIDE from where it grows. IF it would grow on a pole...I am sure Jack would be way way up there by now lol

YES the vacation was great but like it was said...very busy and always on the go. Actually set the alarm clock for 4:30 am most days just so I could do the PRIVATE things rofl. Kristy thanks so much. I am SURE that you need every free minute for your garden right now yourself. Besides....DH really did the best he could and before I saw the few dead plants. My first thought was...oh my gosh, I got a jungle growing back here. lol I am back to normal watering now. In the morning. Since it is to hot to do any garden work anyways. Bob SO GLAD that my timing came just at the right moment for you. (((hugs)) Mailman brought the box with the plants I bought and they got all potted up tonight. Amazing how great they looked, even thou the box was COOKING lol Now let me go and see if I can catch up on some postings before I am still trying to catch up on resting rofl. Beautiful, Lucy. "Hope" you have a great Sunday! LOL, pun intended. tommysmommy - Esperanza would be an annual or you could overwinter indoors in your area. It is a native here in Central Texas and a hardy perennial in Z8 and warmer. They reach 15' at least and bloom spectacularly for six months even in heat (103 today) and drought.

Beautiful Lucy! I'm jealous! Yes they make seeds, that is how I started mine last year. Karyn, I don't know if I sent you seeds, I don't remember if mine made any seeds last year..I thought I only shared cuttings. But I may be wrong?? Too many plants, not enuf brain capacity, lol. I had 2 trees I wintered over, but they didnt make it, and the cuttings I stuck in the ground early spring from those trees, still look exactly the same..they havent grown, havent put on new leaves or anything..they just sit there like they are fake..still the same little leaves as in spring. I didnt fert them at all..maybe that's why. I sent cuttings to a couple people..I am pretty sure Mike was one of them, I think I sent him 2..I wonder how his are doing? I think I am going to dig mine up and get them into pots today, fert them, maybe they'll start growing. I know they def wont make it if I try to overwinter them as small as they are right now. Maybe I can get them a little bigger before the frosts hit.

Good morning all. Lucy, that is great advice about never giving up on our seeds/plants! It will be a wonderful surprise when your seedlings grow and bloom as to color.

Oops, sort of slow here! I was going to ask who Jack was, but after I posted, it came to me, "Jack in the Bean Stalk", duh!!

It came with the name :sword bean :-) Which is a good name, cause it is so big...AND heavy...you could kill someone with it lol

Very cool Lucy. I got some seeds for some kind of oriental green beans called yard long beans. A friend of John's gave me some and it looks like one could feed a family, lol. They were very good. Will grow some to eat next year. Planted John some cabbage and brocolli in a wading pool with holes poked in the bottom, lol. Closest thing I can manage to grow veggies right now with my allergies.
