HELP save my beloved Hawaiian Snowbushes

I'm a transplanted New Yorker living in West Los Angeles. I have absolutely no gardening chops. Three years ago I saw a oddly colored very full potted plant at Trader Joe's. It was called a Hawaiian Snowbush. I took one home and found it to be so captivating I bought two more. I followed directions, re-potted them into larger containers, (not much bigger) watered every few days, placed them in a spot that gave them morning sun and afternoon shade and watched the leaves begin to wither and fall. I've tried everything. Reversed the sun/shade schedule, decreased water, etc. The three struggle on, short of leaves and almost dead looking. I LOVE these plants. How can I restore them? Feeding of some kind? Any and all information greatly appreciated.
