I myself would put it outside in the ground. It for sure will die if outside in the pot. Cover with hay, or pine needles. Completely cover it when it goes dormant. You could keep it inside, but it may develop very weak growth. Either way is a challange.

You mentioned in the other post that they are June bearing. I generally cut mine back in July, after all the fruit are picked. Last season I used a lawn mower. This year I got in there with clippers and cut them back by hand. I pulled out any remaining berries at the same time. TheyÂve since sent out runners that IÂve trained into some of the bare areas. IÂve also planted a half dozen or so seedlings. ThereÂs plenty of new growth that I will just let be over the winter. If I change my mind I might cover them this fall with mulched up leaves. Of course, then I would need to clean them out next spring. Is it possible they have been there quite a few years? They may be a bit too mature. I would think the daughter plants would produce next season, but IÂll let someone else comment on that. They should come through our sub-zero winters well, especially if they get a layer of snow to insulate them. If you have a fence or something blocking the snow (on the west side) you may want to mulch. This time of year, I would only trim the ones that are growing "out of bounds".

they can not be stored like a corm or bulb.. they will get too dry ... why cant they go back in the ground???? you left out some facts ... you seem to have bought sets before ... gather up the whole bunch.. tie them up with a rubber band... then put the whole wad back in mother earth .. very small footprint here ... and then after the ground freezes in your zone.. insulate them with.. wait for it.. a blanket of straw .. lol .. if it works.. you save buying new.. if it doesnt.. go buy new.. what the heck ... in my world.. you use media in pots.. not soil .. and the cost of many pots of media.. would be twice or 3 times the cost of just starting new next spring.. or band them up.. all in one pot.. pot stays out of sun all winter.. and out of wind... and give it a try .. the key to planting or pots.. is GET THEM DORMANT.. and MAINTAIN THAT DORMANCY until spring... either way.. they can not go in and out of dormancy all winter .... ken

Covering is tricky. You can use row cover fabric to help prevent wind drying. A tarp would also work better to block wind but it doesn't allow enough ventilation to prevent fungal growth and that could be undesirable. No need to water til mid-March. After then watch closely that plants receive enough water to keep from drying out from strong sunshine, assuming growing media has thawed. Your plants will likely break dormancy sooner than soil grown counterparts so you may need to cover blooming plants on frosty nights as early as late March.
