I think that in the winter when temps are below freezing you will end up with ice on your plants ;) I also don't think the humidity is going to help much, if at all, in an open air environment as the effect will only last as long as the dryer is running. Likewise, once the clothes are dry, if the dryer is still running the air won't be humid anymore. Keep your lint trap clean or you will have incredibly dusty plants too ;) In other words I think this is a clever idea that is likely to end up disappointing. Having said that, go for it! What is there to lose by trying?

I'm in the planning stages but have put tons of thought into this. Hopefully I won't have to tweak it too much when I do the framing walkthrough. (You really should walk though the framed house before finalizing the locations.) No Christmas package (don't decorate for holidays) or intercom. Outlets at a few locations specifically for nighlights (in bathrooms and in hallways) so we don't have to flip on the overhead lights in order to use the facilities in the middle of the night. Switch for the bathroom fan between the toilet and the vanity (instead of with the other switches near the door) so that it is accessible from the toilet and standing in front of the vanity. Duplex outlets near the TV area. Duplex outlet mounted higher on the wall than normal for the main phone area which will be a nich in the wall. Duplex outlets to either side of all potential bed headboards. Oulets dedicated for cell phone charging in an elevated nich. Duplex outlet, tv cable (for internet) and phone (for fax) anywhere that I plan to (or even might) have a computer. Outlet immediately beside the loft railing in case we ever want to put lights across the railing we can plug them in without a tripping hazzard. Although we probably won't need them, I am putting one oulet just inside each WIC. In my workshop, I'll put an outlet 5' high so that I can put a shelf under it to hold a small radio and clock but still be able to put tables or work space under it. Outlets closer together than Code requires so that it's more convenient. Switches for a room at EVERY entrance into that room. (Our current house doesn't have switches at every entrance and it's a pain.) We will have a small vestibule (for guest entry) and small mudroom for our entry from the garden that are beside each other. Their lights will be on the same switch so that when we walk from outside, into the mudroom, into the entry (from interior access) and then finially into the main house we don't have to flip lights on and off every few steps. Just once when we enter the mudroom and again when we enter the main house. Don't forget electrical service for any undercabinet lights. There are past threads about outlets that are mounted so that they are accessible from inside cabinet drawers so that clothing irons or hairdryers can be left plugged in all of the time and stored in the drawers. I'm considering that, too. In a similar manner, outlet inside of mixer lifter kitchen cabinet for mixer. Outlets and switch for pendant lights on the kitchen island. Outlet for microwave that will be raised above countertop height. Exterior grade outlets at multiple places outside that are easily accessible from the porch and patio areas (not for Christmas lights). Outlet at attic access incase I need to plug in a light there since we will have minimal lighting there.

We all have our faves, I suppose. Top loaders never got my clothes clean. Well, I thought they were "clean" at the time because I had nothing else to compare with. When I bought my first front loader in 2000 - a Maytag Neptune - I was blown away by how clean everything came out. I had a years-old stain on a white shirt that was obliterated by the Neptune. When I moved to Seattle in 2002, I sold my Neptune pair to my aunt and bought an Asko set in Seattle. These were smaller units, but perfect for my townhouse. They cleaned amazingly well. I swapped those out in 2009 for my XXL Miele which continues to give me the clean clothes I've come to expect from a front loader. From the standpoint of twisting clothes, all of my front loaders did it to some degree. The Neptune and Miele have tilted drums, the Asko was a true h-axis design. They all twist clothes. The biggest factor in twisting, I've found, is the spin speed. Maximum speeds tend to exacerbate the problem by plastering the clothes against the drum, making them more difficult to remove even if mildly twisted. It's not a big deal, as everything comes out smooth and wrinkle-free from the dryer. Make sure any machine you buy will continue to tumble the clothes after the wash cycle is completed. That's one feature which is missing from my Miele and it annoys the heck out of me.

I have a 2-yr old whirlpool washer and dryer and hate them both! They're top of the line. The washer is large...not in circumference, but in depth. It is hard on my clothes and my clothes get all wound up in the center wringer...badly. Not to mention, because it's deep and narrow, it's very hard to get the clothes out. The dryer has a lint trap on top and there is always lint all over the top of my dryer after cleaning it out. It also opens down instead of from side to side, so when I throw my clothes in they get caught on the door clasp at the top. Everything gets dried, but when I take them out, everything is in a huge ball and anything inside the ball is wet. The finishes on both are terrible. The white color is worn off on the higher spots. Previous to this I had a top of the line regular loading MAYTAG washer and dryer and LOVED IT.. WAhhhhh I want it back! The finish was indestructable. I had it for 3-1/2 yrs and not a wear spot on the finish. The washer wasn't deep, but large around and the clothes did not get wrapped around the center piece, plus I could get them out easily. The cycles were different and didn't pound my clothes into pulp. And...they were clean. The dryer had something in it (I didn't know what it meant at the time, but now I do) that didn't let clothes tumble into a ball w/them being wet on the inside...like sheets. The fitted sheet is always on the outside then stuff is stuck and wet on the inside...Maytag didn't do this. Plus the door opened side to side so I could switch the doors if needed to open the way I wanted and I never got my clothes caught on the catch. Also the lint screen was right inside the door. Both of my Maytags sold w/the house and I miss them terribly..sniff, sniff. Front loading washers...can you add to it after it starts? Because I'm doing that constantly.
