Son't how much you are paying on ebay and I don't know if you've tried any of these vendors. I am not advertising or promoting any of the vendors listed below. They have various H. truncata hybrids for sale and I know they are first rate. I either purchased from online vendors or received them from friends. I've never purchased on eBay.

I just dug this thread up. I wish those online vendors ship to Canada, would love to have a collection of H. truncata too

I have shipped plants to Canada. The problem besides customs is the cost. As long as you are willing to take the risk that Canadian Customs will confiscate your package and can accept the cost of plants and shipping, I'd be happy to facilitate anything you might want. I got some very nice Haworthia from Craig at C and D Plants (http://www.canddplants.com) and Madeline at Grigsby's (http://www.cactus-mall.com/grigsby/index.html)

David, I found some H. mirabilis, and other (non-windowed) Haws at a local GC (about an hours drive north of Toronto). The owner was happy to oblige me and has put an order in for truncata and maughanii from her S. Ont supplier. I will know by this Friday if they have any, and will let you know if I'm successful.

Question for Howard- Do you see any growth differences in your Haws re clay vs plastic? Thanks much.

I've had plants shipped to me from the States, Belgium and Switzerland; the plants from Belgium (Thank you, Hercule!) allegedly were sent but never made it here. All others were delivered with no problems. I've sent plants to Britain and Switzerland from Canada and from the States. Best to label the item 'Hobby Supplies' as the description and of course send it soiless rootball or leaves only. It can be done successfully, as Howard said.

David, I'm going to the States next month, I can make a run for you if you keep your order small - you can do mail-order and they'd be sent to an AZ address - I'd then mail them from BC to ON. Send me a PM and we'll discuss if you're interested.

Dan, what's a GC and why don't we have one in Kamloops? FWIW, I've seen masterful results, but the best-looking ones (Steve Hammer's H. truncatas are what I'm thinking of) were invariably in 4" - 6" plastic pots, and their beautifully tuberous roots and horse-teeth leaves were making the pot bulge at every seam.

When I tape additional Ferocactus rectispinus to my torso, surprisingly a lot, Dan. The same goes for you, but my fee can be quite high....all of your Cypho. betiforme. I could do a few small plants for you, too - I usually devote a carry-on to all the plant cuttings (wrapped in newspaper, the covering of cheap choice), so they never get cold. I'm more closely identified with jackasses, TBH.

Dan, can't say I notice a difference other than I must exercise much more caution when watering. Since I'm addicted to watering, I do have issues... I'm under therapy and hopefully will put an end to this problem!!!!

Thanks Howard, ... and very nice additions. Therapy? I have similar plant issues, and therapy for me was unsuccessful. So now I'm savin' for some sort of lobotomy thing my wife has signed me up for...In fact, I think she's fast tracking--- going to talk to the bank manager about a loan.
