It could get to 108 in my area. I'll be either inside watching college football or sitting on patio with misters on watching things grow.

I'm still happy it isn't a repeat of last summer when the thermostat routinely showed over 100 degree... in my house...

Last summer in the wilting heat I often packed up the kids and headed to the beach on a whim. At least the car has air conditioning and I can count on 20 degrees lower temps once we are over the mountains. We've only been once this summer. But I think this weekend calls for a trip to Santa Cruz without a doubt.

But watching my kids eat popsicles dripping down there faces is a memory I won't regret. :)

My therm on the front porch showed 123 in the sun this afternoon at 2:30 today and 103 in the shade on the back porch and my husband driving around in the car therm showed 107. However the news said it wasn't 100, I was outside working on my roses, I believe the back porch temp, it was hotter than the news said. I know what 99 feels like and it was warmer than that.

I knew we'd pay for the 'cooler' July we had somehow. This is not a surprise, I expected it last month though.

There's a lot of moisture in the air. Cumulus clouds have been rising over the Sierra Nevada around the Lake Isabella area. That should push the heat index up.

My thermometer at 3pm said 118 which gets relection off of cement patio and tv said it was 108 here.
House is finally in shade from the ridge so should be a little bearable out there.

I miss watching the thunder storms in Aug up there, they're pretty awesome, but not the fires started from the lightening.

Weatherman finally admitted to 106 after all tonight.

Hayward peaked at 92. The mornings of 69 are dee-lightfull. Ice tea and watering the yard..

It has been raining off and on since 7 am, with intermittent thunder and lightning. It's 80º and humidity in the 90s.

It's so strange..... just yesterday I wrote to several folk in the midwest and east coast to see how they were fairing and offered to take some of their rain. I didn't know Mother Nature would have taken me so literally. ;^)

The sky was actually overcast this morning in BKF. It looked like for all the world, that it might rain, but it didn't.

It kind of reminded me of those days back in San Jose when I was working to get my pilot's license and had to wait all morning until about 11:30am to 1:00pm for the ocean stratus to burn off. And true to form, there is at this time, not a cloud in the sky over BKF. It all burned off and it's time to sweat again. If only I could climb into the cockpit, crank up the engine and feel that forced air, ready to taxi down for a run-up check. To bad I'm going blind. It kinda takes the fun out even imagination.

But what the heck, with these temps, it'll probably be a turbulent day and any passenger would puke all over themselves!

I shouldn't even be on this thread as the Bay Area is only low 90s during the day recently.
What I do like is the nice warm evenings.

That's pretty freaky for the Bay Area! :o) Another freaky thing is my home town Weaverville is hotter than Redding! Holy MACARONI!!!!! That hasn't happened yet in my lifetime!

Sacramento is only like 105º, while unpleasant, it's not unusual... like last year's 112º Unfortunately, I am on a medicine that is affecting my thyroid and I have become extremely heat intolerant... so off to the coast I go! whoopeeeee! FOG! :D

oh this dreadful heat!!! I have mostly potted plants...large ones.
I have to water more often because of it....then I have to feed more often so that the water doesn't wash out minerals and such.

I'm so proud of my display this year...lots of different grasses and tall papyrus and odd looking plants like Kangaroo paw. I even have a small bare branch sticking out of a pot of small rocks that sits on a tall metal stand as a tribute to Tim Burton. It looks like something out of Nightmare Before Xmas. hehe

What is really freakish, are these sudden down bursts of heavy rain in the Central Valley. It's like Texas!

Some guy got killed when he was forced to pull over to the side of the road in his SUV and the container truck that was behind him crashed and flattened him, not being able to see for all the rain. There's someone who doesn't have a problem with the heat anymore.
