I saw this vine offered at a web site recently (don't remember the name right now) but I thought it had unusal blooms. It didn't have much info about it. I think its absolutely lovely and you say the fragrance is nice so thats another plus for it.

Can you tell me more about it? I don't do vines because they tend to be invasive. Does this one go wild? Does it like sun or shade? How long have you had it? I think it's so pretty that I may have to change my thinking about vines.

Hard to say what it smells like, a mixture of Gardenia, honeysuckle, and Jasmine.. LOL

Deb, It's a zone 8-9 hardy. Full sun, and not invasive at all. It does grow very well, and usually I'm lucky if I get seed pods. I try every year to overwinter one of them, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I love it. Edna

Beautiful Edna! O I can't wait till I get blooms on mine. They are growing well, and hopefully will mak it thru the winter inside. Crossing my fingers I get blooms next year!

So pretty. Edna I thought that mine was awfully late this season. I didn't get my first bloom until a few weeks ago and it's just now starting to put out a lot of flowers. This is much later then normal for me. Does your Corkscrew usually start this late? It's definitely too late in the season for mine to get any pods to ripen.

Ours has been blooming for a few weeks now and it sure does stop folks dead in their tracks when they see and smell it!

Ooh, I can't wait til mine blooms. Its not very big yet. I think I kept it in the house too long.

I have 2 of them in containers in full sun & they are both covered in buds & just starting to open. They smell very sweet, almost like candy. I want to plant them so they can cover the porch next year.

I have 3, 1 in full sun and 2 in shade. The 2 in the shade are healthy and dark green and really growing. The 1 in the sun looks washed out and pale. None have bloomed yet, but they are all seedlings from this year. I should be able to overwinter them with no problems. Everything seems late this year though. Several vines are just starting to bloom for me.

Linda I'm glad to hear it's not just me. Everything has been very late this year by about a month. I was looking at my photobucket from last year and saw that things like my Corkscrew vine were beginning to peak in July. Last year was bad for brugs for me because of the drought and heat and this year because of the long cold spring. I really hope next year is average but I have my doubts.

Beautiful Edna! I only have 2 plants left out of the seedlings I raised from your seeds. I don't know if I will ever see them bloom. I'm not sure they like the soil here. They were all growing like gang busters until I put them in the ground. Most of them turned up their noses and croaked on me. The two I have left I have been nursing along for sometime now. I probably should just dig them up and put them in some good potting soil and winter them in the greenhouse.

My KMOGG are just now starting to cover the arbor well. I have not seen my first bloom on them or my hycinth beans either. I don' t know what the problem is.

I have 2 of these growing up the front of my raised deck.They are in full sun,but so far they are just beginning to set little flower buds.I have had these in previous years and they have bloomed much earlier than this.
However they are definitely well worth the wait,they are absolutely gorgeous,and the smell is divine.I personally think they smell like Hyacinths.

Things are blooming at funny times here this year as well. Its been strange weather for sure.

I can't wait for mine to bloom Edna, that is so cool looking! I think I'll have to wait til next year to see blooms though. I have mine in a HB with phaseolus, I am going to cut it back and overwinter in a sunny window. Can these be sprayed with forbid before I bring them in or would it harm them?

Shawn, The vigna caracalla never get mites, or anything for that matter. They are a pest free plant !! Got to love that. ~Edna~
