mboston, We probably have the Long Tail Skippers because they are listed in all the counties around me but the info for our county is very limited. I have emailed the person that is in charge of our area with pictures of some of my butterflies but it still hasn't changed on the site.
What do you want to trade? I also have bird of paradise seed which is a great hummer & butterfly attracter that would grow in Florida. It has yellow with red stamen flowers & looks a lot like a mimosa tree.

Imabirdnut - I usually drop them in the soil in the early spring. They sprout pretty quickly. You can get seed pods all summer long. Lots of time I will just drop them back in the pot and new ones pop up. They come up on their own as the pods drop onto the ground. The vine looks really pretty around a mailbox.

When do you usually get your seeds from your candlestick cassia? I have one but have not noticed any seeds yet. I wonder if the stress of hurricane Ike did something. Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I probably started getting seeds about 6 weeks ago. I wonder if the flowers were blown off during the hurricane if that prevented them from producing seeds. Would that make sense?

I haven't received the seeds yet. I wonder if my label got torn off somehow in the mail back to me? I don't think I put a return address on it cause I thought you would. Maybe its in never never land. I would think only 4-5 days would be needed for it.

Maybe it got confiscated by the seed patrol department of the US Postal Service! HA!

I'll send you some more seeds. Look for an envelope this week. I hope it didn't get stopped by seed patrol! I just had an interesting week trying to overnight a letter to Myanmar. I have a young goddaughter who is working there and we have been working on a visa for her to come visit me. Customs got a hold of the package and kept it for several days!

Could be! I only have one little cluster of flowers right now. Do you have A LOT of different bugs on your cassia? When I see a cloudless sulphur land on mine, I think, "Your caterpillars don't stand a chance!" I have SO many wasps and stink bugs on the darn thing. It's certainly well used by the insects! Just not the ones I wanted!

I do have ants and assasin bugs. Howver I have had lots of caterpillars on it nonetheless. Right now I don't have any blooms. It may be late in the season as we have had cooler weather this month.
