Back In Business

After a lenghthy absence, I am back.

Had lightning damage to my home and most of my electronic equipment but, hopefully it has all been repaired or replaced. The problem is that I was high among the "dumbest PC users" in the world before I got all this new equipment and the new software (Microsoft 7 instead of my familiar XP) doesn't help my case. Thanks to one of my sons-in-law and one of my grandsons, they were able to recover all my files from the old "fried" hard drive. Most of the sites that I visited before the damage, dropped my log-in data and I've had to reset a bunch of those.

I would like to post a single photo (It has been posted before on this site) just to see if I have this one back in usable shape.

Incidentally, since I was on here, Mike Cronin and some of his neighbors have made two trips up here and they have selected, dug, delivered and replanted all the plants from my garden into the Karen Cronin Memorial Gardens in Mike and Karen's home town. I hope to get down there to see them next spring.

Pretty photo Bob and welcome back! Sorry to hear you had lightening damage. I'm not as careful about unplugging things when it storms as I should be. I like to look at the radar on the computer and it's inconvenient to shut it down.

Hi Bob;
I missed your photos. You will definately have to take a trip to the Karen Cronin Memorial Gardens and show us a bunch of pictures next summer.

Thanks for the info. "cpg". As I said already, Epic always had good quality plants that were "true to name", which is not always the case with many other perennials being offered for sale. I really hate it when catalogues offer plants for sale under made-up names such as "Yellow Fluff". To me, this is the mark of a less than forthright retailer, who relies on "gimmicks" to make sales. Yuck!!

Jaybird...you are not gonna believe this, but although just a few more would do the trick (I have about 30-5 in. squares to fill) I just found out I am gonna be making another one as a BABY QUILT...for the same son and his wife!!! Don't cha just love it? Kids will keep ya 'busy' till the day ya die! LOL! But...if ya want off the hook (for now) I did find out I could buy 'rejects' straight from the hosiery company, so I could do that for now or until they stop doing it and then I'll get back to ya if need be (I got your email and your address and I'll keep it 'just in case'!) Thanks alot for all you've already done and are willing to do! (Don't throw 'em out, though! I can always use them and am willing to pay for your time/postage as they make excellent stuffing for pillows, toys, etc. besides other things I have heard they can be used for such as tomato plant ties, onion keepers, cedar logs for in the trunk, etc. Much appreciation...keep in touch,now! nola_anne

Datils are a great pepper, from Fla. too. Try the sweet datil , it is not hot but is one of the best flavored peppers out there. Glad to here you will be having a local supply of peppers. Field grown peppers have always given me much higher yields then pots so if you can keep up with the weeds the sky is the limit. Good Luck Dave

Hey Ross, good to hear from you. I dont think this brutal weather is over yet ,but at least we are not sinking into snow drifts up to our knees at this point. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Things are starting to poke their heads up here but only just starting . The snowdrops dont much care if it is freezing out there or not ......they are blooming their little heads off. Saw my first full grown housefly outside on Thursday(wonder where he has been hiding all winter?) so can decent weather be far off? Who knows ! But suffice to say "I am ready for it " . Signet

It's aggravating to have to turn everything off when you hear thunder, but it's a smart thing to do. I haven't always been smart, and I've had some computer damage done in the past, too.
'Glad to hear Mike got some more of your plants - I bet that memorial garden is beautiful!

Glad to hear you have everything fixed/replaced. Beautiful photo! I too am terrible about disconnecting during a storm. I absolutely hate not being able to see where the storm is and in SD it is a must when hail and such roars through here.

A few yrs ago, we had 11 ruptures through our 38ft gooseneck trailers roof, a shattered windshield on the truck plus all panels on both needed repaired/replaced. Roof on house and garage replaced, many windows replaced too.

Now that DH and I both have smart phones, we'll be more likely to disconnect the pc and such to protect them. lol
