go distilled/rain water, some well water is ok but some well water has lots of minerals and stuff in it. since you have photobucket you can copy the "tag" code and paste it here and it will show the pic. VFTS can do ok in a windowseal, but they do alot better out in the sun, 6-8 hours is great you should acclimate it to full sun though. try getting a bigger container(glad were or something like that works great) and put some water in it and put the container the plant is in down in it so its sitting in some water, this will keep it moist throughout the day.

your flytrap looks nice. lucky you. venus' flytraps are really easy to take care of. if you do have a sunny windowsill it may grow there fine. however, venus' flytraps are sun loving plants. they like aquiring atleast 4 -6 years of full sun during the growing season (late february through late october)

These plants prefer distilled water or purified water. you can use a tray to water these. a "tray method" this can be done by pouring some purified water into a tray or shallow dish. after that, slowly sumerge the whole pot/container onto the water, then let it sink. this way, the compost of the plant will remain moist at all times. do not let it dry out.

if i were you, i would grow the plant inside the windowsill for a week. (to acclimate it in its new surroundings.) after that, introduce it to full sun gradually. these plants love full sun. they grow vigorously outdoors.

venus' flytraps prefered media is : 50% peat moss + 50% perlite mix. water them everytime the water tray becomes dry.

One more thing. venus' flytraps do not need any bugs to eat in order to survive. they do fine without eating any bugs. although, they do split in doubles and send so many offshoots when it feeds upon several insects. They do grow faster and do indeed make more daughter plants from the base of the mother plant. if you are planning to feed it. They feed themselves when they are growned outside.

You do not need rocks on the bottom. Just sit the pots in an inch of water. Always keep water in the tray, the only exception is in the winter when they go dormant (they MUST have dormancy), then we keep the soil moist only. slowly acclimate them to full sun outside. An hour today, an hour tomorrow, 2 hours the next day etc. until they get all day sun. As someone else said you don't have to feed carnivorous plants, they will feed themselves once outside.
Use only distilled or rainwater, NO TAP WATER! The salts and chlorine or chloramines will kill the plant.
