OT: some nature pics

Hey ya'll, these are some old pics I thought ya'll might like. The cicada is not a shell but the actual nymph, fixing to emerge as an adult. The black bug and tree frog are in GA. The canada goose, rabbit and cat n mouse are from VA

Karyn, the potato bushes i have (3 total) are grown from cuttings, so they are blooming despite their small size. Im going to train them into standards. we'll see how it goes. I agree about picking fruit from your own trees. I live in the central valley of Cal, and we are the largest fruit and produce growing region in the US. I am literally surrounded by endless fields of almonds, peaches, pears, pomegranates, plums, apricotts, figs, citrus, persimmons, plums, cherries, cantaloupes, table grapes, raisin grapes, wine grapes, watermelons, tomatoes, peppers, string beans, squash, carrots, lettuce, strawberries, raspberries...you name it, its grown comercially here. There is such a surplus of produce in the summertime that you cannot get rid of your excess fruit if your life depended on it because everyone has access to their own fruit. All that to say that it is WAY better when you can walk outside and pick produce from your own plants.

Josh you have done a Beautiful job with your yard, I knew those Brugs would have a good home, I would love for you to see my yard, my camera is still at the repair, I totally agree with you on the wasted space of a small piece of grass, get rid of it have more flowers, I did the same thing, I took out all the grass & put a contorted Filbert there with lots of mulch a concrete pedestal with catcus in a pot I made myself hypertuffa, & a hugh agave in a pot on the ground beside the Filbert, as soon as my camera gets back I can take all kinds of Pic's Thank you, Josh for the wonderful tour of your Georgeous Yard Elizabeth

Thanks you guys :) No like weeds, no like slugs!!!...lol...Alot of the plants are only up about 4-6", so there will be lots more around July/August. I'm REALLY excited to see how my tropical area turns out in my front yard..I'll post a picture later in the summer. Thanks to Beverly in NC (for the bananas), and Elizabeth, (for the agaves), for sharing those plants that I put in my tropical area :) knotz

Karyn, I believe the yellow flower is called a dahlberg daisy. It is a perennial, and I think I am going to move it because it is getting way too big for the narrow bed it is in. The big brug by the house is my NOID white from last year, it is the fullest brug I have and looks like it is going to give me a nice flush if all the buds hold. Shawn

Great pics. I rarely get to see a cicada before it emerges from it's shell. What is the bee/fly looking bug with the spots? That's very cool looking. Is your cat making nice to the mouse or is it in the process of torturing it to death?

Lucy, it was just some neighborhood cat.
Karyn, I couldn't find that moth/bee/fly thingy after 30 min of google searching. I remember it taking me forever to ID it when I took the pic and have since forgot what it is, sorry. The cat was torturing the mouse.

I googled it. Before it becomes that moth...it is a oleander moth. Or Polka dot moth or also called Uncle Sam moth because of it's colors.

NOT good for Oleanders...as one could guess from the name lol.

Who knows, maybe I will get to see one of those. But then they do eat the Oleander...so maybe...just maybe I can do without em lol
