Looks like a red tail hawk so probably near 2 feet from head to tail. Could deffinitely make a meal of a young pup. Good to keep the pigeon, rabbit, rodent population down though.

They are so sweet Don! Thanks for sharing! I get the loud ones here. We had a family of crows last year in a spruce about 20 feet from our bedroom, and then the Blue Jays decided to nest about 30 feet away. There was no sleeping in the mornings at all! (I love them all though.) Hope you get to watch when they start learning to fly. Could be quite the show. Keep us posted.

Sure Ann just go into the Round Robin forum and look up any thread with tropical in the name...We all have posted pictures of our plants that we received from each other in our swaps... There are some amazing plants that have been shared with each other... I also like I have learned about new plants I never even heard of...It is a great teaching group too... And you get to learn about everybodys gardens across the states too..:) I know the last swap a gardener shared a clivia plant with another gardener... There is awesome stuff...It is just like christmas you get that happy feeling sharing and receiving but it is not Decemebr..:)

I definitely wouldn't want to capture *ALL* the rainwater falling on the property, as I understand about the need for replenishing not only our groundwater tables but also for the immediate watering of my big, mature trees. I'm just thinking that with a 10,000 sq ft property, there's a lot of space to put a few additional barrels. I have this big, basically unused area behind my garage where X number of barrels could sit and do their thing without being an eyesore for me or the neighbors. BTW, and this is purely a guess, but I think about 2/3 of the property is earth vs some man-made material. Also, my patio and the walkway from it to the driveway slope at, I believe, 9 degrees toward the driveway. The driveway slopes down to the street naturally, following the slope of the property. I could theoretically reroute the runoff from the patio somehow to save it, although it doesn't really get much water of its own during a rain, because it's covered and its cover is also fully guttered.

mr. gabriel cut his first tooth just yesterday! he will be 8 months old on saturday. he's doing great! i think he's gonna be one of those babies who skips crawling all together and just starts walking. he "walks" all over the place with help from whichever grownup can bend long enough without back pain. LOL! needless to say, we take turns! he has figured out quickly all about putting one foot in front of the other. melissa is in the process of putting gates up to keep him corralled. he LOVES to be in the pool!!! he splashes like crazy and doesn't care a bit about getting his face wet. :) thanks for asking about him! he is the light of my life. i'm going up tomorrow to spend the day with him. he has this cute little fake cry when he's getting tired but fighting sleep. it cracks me up! i laugh at him and he starts laughing back. i LOVE rocking him to sleep! he is eating lots of different foods and is drinking from a little cup!!

Barb that is one gorgeous neighbor! Who cares if he is hungry. I wish I had a hungry neighbor...but mine only goes to the fast food restaurants roflmao

The funny thing is I always wanted a picture of a hawk and have tried to buy one..Could never find one I liked...I am gonna have it blown up... They are so majestic..He was huge, you all see how he is percehed on one foot...He didnt mind me at all..:)

I had one of those dip-diving on me, close to my head, once when I walked my little 4 lb chihuahuas in the park. It probably had young ones nearby, or so I like to think. But it scared the living daylights out of me. I'm glad he's YOUR neighbor, rosepedal, LOL.

He's beautiful, very regal, I have a few in my neighborhood that just hang out on the chain link every once in a while,I'm happy for you. Although I don't think he could pick up the poo from my dog. Too heavy.hahahaha
