Does anyone have some of those florist tubes?

I would be really glad to get some and will pay for the postage and for the tubes if you want. I think my BSTs are too dumb to climb back up to the plant after they climb off of it...the little ones anyway. I lost 7 of my 12 cats. They were all the tiny ones. I have since found more eggs on my parsley and fennel and would like to be more prepared for them. I have been using potted rue that I have sitting in a big storage container; the big ones even seem to wander around a lot and I don't think I've seen them go back on the plants for a couple days and had to lay some down in the container for them. These sure act different than Monarchs. I also found a real big BST cat today on the parsley. I hope nothing got to it. I would assume that they get parasitized just like the Monarchs do? I've really had a problem here this year with Tachinid Flies.

Anyway, if anyone could help me with the tubes to put cuttings in, I'd appreciate it.

Whenever I need any, I just go to Kroger or any large grocery that has a floral dept. I always ask if I can buy some, and they ask how many I need -- when I say just 5 or so, they always just give them to me :-).

Anyone growing florist roses?

I grow a lot of florist roses, but most are from the old Carlton's Roses. They used to sell florist rose plants, but they went out of business a couple yrs ago. I think Mike might be right. Your rose looks a good bit like KONFETTI, altho it does get more red on the edges. But the form is very close. I recently tried to root cuttings from a couple of florist roses. One did root, but it hasn't done anything. Another one looks like it might've rooted. I should try to bud them too. Looks like it would be fun to do. Safeway has a great selection of florist roses and they always have the names on the cellophane. The best florist rose to come around in a long time is RED INTUITION. Supposedly it doesn't do well as a garden rose in Europe, but it's wonderful in my garden!

I've been doing a germination container for 3-6 months and then a 5 or 6" community pot of 5-10 plants for about 6 more months and then individual 5" pots. For a while I was doing a lot of repotting, but now it's slowed down as I've caught up with my backlog. Yeah, I'm out of space, but I'll figure something out. I do usually just end up giving most of them away as an alternative to direct culling. My landscaper/brom grower friends are trying to grow them out and they don't mind free plants. They have no problems with noid's. They'll just stick them in somebody's yard along with dozens of others that aren't marked. Do you drink red or white with potting mix?

Does anyone have some gesneriad cuttings?

I'm in Valrico. I used to grow a couple of achimenes and had a Goldfish Plant but now the only gesneriad that I currently have is a Sinningia sellovii. Here's a couple of photos of the S. sellovii. I learned after I planted it in the ground that it does best in a pot. It's growing out of a patch of lavender scallops in the photo. Steve in Valrico

I also buy them from my grocery store floral dept. They charge me 15 cents each.

I go to the local florist and buy them by the handsful. Charge me about 5 cents apiece.

Ok tdogmom. I am glad to help out at any time. My florist was so sweet and was glad to help me. I told her what I do with the tubes and she was amazed (just like everyone else). Ha Ha.
