unable to identify

Yellow swallow tail

forgot the real name of this one sorry

silvery blue very tiny even with a zoom

3 years ago our yard had zero and now we see these and others on a regular basis

Did you plant nectar flowers? Or make any other changes that might be the reason you are now seeing these awesome butterflies?

Where are you located?
The first picture is some type of blue, probably a summer azure. The second is a tiger swallowtail, the third a male spicebush swallowtailed, and the last one is an eastern tailed blue.

I released 10 Sleepy Orange butterflies from my tent this afternoon. So, I have little yellow butterflies flitting around all over the yard. Did a walkabout just now, and I only saw Skippers and lots of bees. Makes me happy to see so many bees. Congrats on the RSP's Sherry. Gosh, I hope to raise some one day. I hope that the one female Monarch left some eggs behind. I'll watch for the Fritillaries Leafhead. So far, I've only seen one Great Spangled. My Passionvine is bustin out big time. There will be lots of food for Frit cats. Angie

Today, I got the girl's name and found out where she lives from my neighbor with the grandson who I let come over. She said the girl is pretty wild, and not a good influence on her grandson. She once tried to get him to do tricks on his bicycle in the street. He is supposed to stay away from her. (She's older, anyway.) My neighbor said I shouldn't go to her house to get on better terms with her, as she will do what she wants anyway, and may interpret it that I am letting her come over after all. She said to wait until I see her near here again. Speaking of knowing what cats eat. I found out that her grandson had put another cat in with the tomato hornworm, and it ate part of the hornworm! Do any of you know if cats will eat each other? I was wondering if it was one of my Swallowtail cats that he put in with his. I guess he cried and cried, and his day said they'd let it go, and maybe it would grow new parts. Mary, part of me can't see how people would have the nerve to pick your roses, but another part thinks many people are clods when it comes to the appreciation of gardening and respect for others' property, and is not surprised. I'll look up the urica. :o) Living on a corner exposes you to the public. I hope they never put sidewalks in our yard! My in-laws had a fence they had to move because it was in the easement. Our back yard fence is in the easement, though, I think. I just know our shed goes out to it, and we can't build a new one because structures have to line up with the houses on either side of the lot. If our house burns down, I don't think we'll be allowed to rebuild. I do hope I see the girl soon, as I do agree I should explain why I was so upset. I think what irks me the most, is that by her telling the friend she hoped I wasn't outside, that meant she was knowingly, deliberately doing something she knew I didn't want her to do. Where a species of butterfly chooses to stay is really an interesting point. If you walk down my street on a summer morning and look from the front yard of my house to the back yard, you will probably see at least 5 species and multiplies of these species at any given time. Look to the yard to the left or right or behind you and you might see a stray butterfly, usually headed towards my yard. Another point - a neighbor about 3 houses away also has a butterfly garden of sorts. He has a huge Pipevine growing against his house. My Pipevine grows on a wooden fence the depth of my yard. It was recently totally eaten down in a matter of a week. I took at least 60 cats to his house to put on his vine that had a couple cats on it. I gave another friend about the same amount of cats for her vine and I still had cats crawling on the ground making their chrysalis because even the stems of the vine were eaten. Now, why do the Polys stay in my yard and continue to try to find vine to lay on when just that short distance there is ample food? He doesn't spray pesticides, basically has the same predators I would like Cardinals, wasps, and anoles. I am now having to remove eggs and tiny cats that hatch just to let my vine regrow. There were at least 20 Polys out there this morning chasing each other and trying to find vine to lay on. My point is you can't make them come or make them stay or make them go away (well unless you get rid of their hosts!). We are also seeing a change in the migration path for our state butterfly Zebra Longwing. I have yet to see one come in my yard this year despite having several types of Passionvine that they use. In past years I was releasing up to 2 dozen a day for several weeks in the summer. The past winter was so bad that some believe the butterflies suffered since they do have a long lifetime since they also collect pollen as well as nectar. They are still seeing them in south Florida and along the coast but not in the interior as in the past. When I was raising and releasing them, I never saw many stay in my yard. Most would leave and only 2 to 3 pairs would stay. My theory was that the others would continue north since they are common (or were) common throughout the state. I would love to have some to raise and get them re-established in the area but I bet they wouldn't stay but move on. I actually did get a few eggs from a friend in South Florida and released 5 but all left immediately. Again, you can't make them stay. Its in their genetic makeup to do what nature wants them to do.

Nector flowers ??? if that includes oriental lilys then yeah I did I also found a fox glove under neath a carpet phlox but as it was late in the season it had no chance of flowering this year. Very happy to of found that fox glove too I planted it three years ago and hadn't seen it untill this mid summer so I replanted it closer to the butterfly bush and two butterfly weed like the garden Phlox they have always been there for the ast three years but the red one got alot more rounder this year it took off in a hurry this season got real big

I did loose a scabosia blue back then too perhaps it's the full day sun I get. I do got to shade up the small sized butterfly garden just a bit we plan on a frindge tree next spring they smell like a butterfly would like em at very least it'll cool the area down a little around 4:30ish PM

I am also side traked a little on hummingbird attraction
which went very well this year ( just a single red glass globe feeder and wooo hooo ) I ponder the bird vs butterfly idea doesnt sound good for the butterflies to me any insight on this crazyness ?

Other items in our view :
hawks golden eagles golden finches robins blue jays turkey buzzards morning doves grey squirrells skunks wood peckers and them nasty ole english sparrow and some other nice colored flyers way to cold for blue birds here but monarcs flutter around from time to time

as of two weeks ago the only buterflies seen are some soft yellow with a black spot on both wings small ones and that white one which has a hang out here for a while attitude

a real plus is at least now I know what the names are Thank you

Yeah for you, Wesley! I have found that most of my butterfly nectar plants attract the humnmers, too. I had the plants first and then got hummers, so started hanging a feeder for them, They chase the butterflies around protecting their feeder, but don't harm them at all. I just garden for all wildlife (as well as one can as a city dweller) and have birds, butterflies, hummers, dragon and damselflies, honeybees, bumbles, many moths, like the hummingbird moths (which I raise also), and just love it all. I'm quite fascinated by all nature has to offer,,,well, except for oleander aphids, milkweed bugs, and spined soldier bugs that eat my caterpillars!
