WANTED: Have and wanted list for the Charlotte area plant swap

I thought I'd start a list....and see what all will be available...and maybe get some side trades out there! :)

I am going to be bringing the following outdoor plants (probably more...this is a starter list)

Peonie

Butterly bush cuttings started in soil

blackberry bush

butterfly Iris

petite purple monarda

pineapple sage

mint

Inside plants (I'm sure it will grow)

Epiphyllum (some varieties)

Rhipsalis ( several varieties)

Hoya (several Varieties)

Pothos

Philodendron (three varieties)

Wandering Jew (two varieties)

Rosary Vine

Amaryllis ( mature bulblets)

I have several types of seeds..look at my trade list for that

I will have 1 brand new hummingbird feeder

Assorted gardening books

Osmocote fertilizer for indoor or outdoor plants

Wants:

Anything butterfly or hummingbird related for outdoor plants

And, I've never met a houseplant that I do not like! lol

I'm just starting my garden...so I'd love anything anyone had to trade!

Hey Red! nice list! Everyone has to start somewhere (last year I had nothing, this year I have some, next year I plan to take over the lawn...... no street.... no THE WORLD! ha ha ha!

I covet your peony and any philodendron most ferociously, hope I will be able to tempt you with some garden basics.

Cosmos, Tall varieties any colour
Marigold - any french typse
White flowering plants that can take dry heat.

I can't think of anything else.....

Red best way to launch a naked garden is with some seeds, lots of perennial seed can be started in the fall and flower the following year I will check my seedbox to see what I have for you, SUN or SHADE?

I have mostly full sun. My porch area gets morning shade...but after about 1pm...it gets the hot sun. lol

I would love to trade with you!!!! You had me at red holiday cactus! lol
I have brazile, monstera and heart leaf philo and the peony is pink.

I have some seeds you are looking for Aster and Cosmos!
I would love some of the honeysuckle! I love that stuff! hehe
I see a lot of stuff I'd like! hehe You did good tempting me!!

Yes, there are others who are coming. We'll have an ad in at least 2 local papers, and it's already on "Charlotte on the Cheap", so I expect around 15 people, which is what we had last time. Get this... when I reserved the park shelter by phone, instead of hearing "Plant Swap", the agent heard "Plant Flop", HAHA! :) So that's our official title for this time.

Charlotte Fall Plant Swap, 2015 Sunday, November 1, 3pm Marion Diehl Park 2219 Tyvola Road, Charlotte, NC 28210 There is only one shelter at this park. The park is connected to Queens University Sports Complex, and you can turn into the park at the Queen's entrance, or the Marion Diehl entrance. For first time swappers - we don't care if you have weeds or high dollar orchids. If you have plants to give away and want them to go to good homes, this is the place to be. We trade anything and everything. If you don't have much, don't worry - we don't have rules about that either. Hopefully everyone will go home with more than they brought! Other gardening stuff is also welcome- pots, books, bulbs, cuttings, magazines, potting soil, tools, statues, etc. Please label your plants. Something simple like "yellow daylilies" or "cactus houseplant" or "shade ground cover". This will make it easier to know where to plant the new plants we take home. If you don't have any plants to swap, come anyway! How it works: You show up early and place your plants in with all the other plants. You find a spot away from the shelter where you can stash the plants you grab during the swap. I will welcome everyone to the swap and ring a bell. You get to grab ONE plant and take it to your stash zone. We do this two or three times before we change it to TWO plants per ring and then THREE plants and finally we have a free-for-all where the leftovers can be claimed by anyone. The Plant Swap is free. Jeff, the swap itself begins promptly at 2 pm, but I'm hearing many people are arriving earlier, some with food in tow. It is located at the Lake Cunningham Recreational Facility where I have reserved the covered area for the day. This park is on N McElhaney, right near the intersection of N McElhaney and Rte 101 (behind the fire station). Here are the original rules I established to help keep things from being totally chaotic: 1. If you bring one plant, you take home one plant. If you bring two, you take two, etc. 2. Houseplants, annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables, shrubs, trees, vines (did I miss anything?) are all welcome. Seeds or cuttings can be swapped for other seeds or cuttings. 3. I prefer to separate the live plants into "swap rounds". Each person will put one plant into the "round", and numbers will be drawn to see who gets first, second, third, etc pick of that round. New numbers will be chosen each round so the same person doesn't always go first. If you brought only 3 plants, you can only be part of three "rounds". This may not be the way you have done it before, but I'm appealing to you to humor me and try it my way. 4. Since I don't want to keep everyone for hours, I'm limiting the live plant "rounds" to 6. We can swap seeds/cuttings in rounds after, if needed. 5. Please schedule your personal trades for a time that does not conflict with the actual swap. I believe the park is open sun-up to sundown. The Plants: * Please make every attempt to label the plant with its latin name, including the variety. Plastic cutlery or popsicle sticks work great for this if you use a Sharpie. * Please bring plants that are free of bugs, disease and/or weeds. * Please remember to water the plants thoroughly the night before, not the day of the swap. The finalized date for the Charlotte area plant swap is going the be September 13th at 3 pm in Clover, SC. We will have 2 raffles being held with tickets available for purchase....1 for a glorious plant and 1 for a garden decor item. We will also have a table for swaps of non-plant items like garden decor, books, fertilizer and the like. We will have all the details nailed down for the swap in the next day or so...and all who sign up and send either of us an email will receive an email explaining how things will work and direction and phone numbers.

Frances, A friend of mine that lives in Gastonia has Heavenly Bamboo and has taken some cuttings for the Greer Swap. I have Nandina but I know for a fact it isn't Heavenly Bamboo because that is the variety I was looking for and settled for the closest thing to it because I couldn't find it.

I just put in some of that pink/orange/yellow Lantana this year so I have a bunch of babies but I may have some seed some time soon.
