lmao!! omgsh, thats too funny.. I too have done all of those things.. in fact, I will confess.. today, as the temp. has 'soared' to a balmy 61, and rainy, I placed an umbrella over my large jade. It actually just made its way outside a few days ago.. I was contemplating bringing it back into the west window because it was, too, pushing out some great growth. Living in an upstairs apt., it's somewhat hard to keep luggin a 13 yr old jade up and down a flight of stairs! One thing tho, NEVER give up on the succulents and cacti! thats what makes us different from the run of the mill gardeners in our zone! I being from NW Pa, have actually been thinking of using the porch roof that is outside my western facing living room windows to relieve some of the stress of "in and out"! I have mostly crassulas in a very fast draining mix so that when it does rain for a day or so, it usually dries out the next day.. But when it drizzles like this and the temp drops.. they come back inside.. I just hate putting the stress on them of changing places all the time!

I am actually going to move my big Aloe dichotoma under cover tonight...it seems to have rained about 20 of the last 30 days, unreal. There is a powerful Aleutian Low in Alaska and a stubborn ridge over Greenland that seems to be responsible for the cool and rainy weather in the NE and mid-Atlantic states.

My Pachys, Cyphostemmas, Adeniums, Aloes and Agaves have been outdoors unprotected from all this rain. But I am confident in my soil mix and the plants all look fine.

I only worry about the A dichotoma a little. I would worry more if it were hot and rainy.

I REALLY feel bad for all of you!! I wish I could send you some of our heat...and it return I will take some of your cool weather. Hang it there guys, I'm sure your weather will improve soon...it has to right? After all, summer is next week!

Just remember - rain water is (somehow) differnt from tap water. It seems like it can rain and rain and rain on succulents and all is well (with the exception of a few, like Monadeniums and Ascepiads...) But if you watered them with tap water as much, they'd be rotted yuck-o's, right? Waz up with that?

I've had it with all this rain, I had to put a cover on my shade house to keep my younger epies dry, don't need them sitting in water, the older epies don't seem to mind all the water, there starting to set buds, now if it would warm up lets say around 85/90 I would get lots of blooms.

What REALLY bugs me about it is the way it just hangs on, and the temps barely budge. These days up here typically go from mid-50s at night to around 62-64 during the day. Yikes! My Cyphostemma has some buds that have opened fully, and some just waiting - like it was interrupted and now doesn't know what to do...

Growing season up here is short enough already - who needs this!?!? I will be extremely happy when this finally moves on...

I live a bit farther south than you, but Im also suffering from the rain and below average temperatures. Next week looks to be a little closer to average in my area and at least it will be in the low 80s, but it will still be raining and we will still be at least 2-4 degrees below the average of 85 in my area.
I dont have alot of cacti, but my yuccas arent doing too bad. Curve leaf yuccas are a common landscape plant in my area and they are flowering now. My thanksgiving cactus is budding now too which proves how cold it is outside. My banana almost rotted because of all the rain we have been having and a bad pot so I had to repot it and its making a nice come back despite more and more rain. Hopefully it will dry up and warm up soon, but on the bright side I havent watered a single plant in about 2 weeks.

I hear it's supposed to get into the 80's next week. Man I've had enough of this rain. A normal real spring I guess....

I saw a really bright, warm, yellow, glowing-thing up in the sky today for a few minutes today...does anyone know what that is?

Been raining here in NYC for days, seemingly 4 days rain, 1 or 2 days gray, 4-5 days rain, 1 day sun, 4-5 days rain, 2-3 days gray 4-5 day rain...

you guys have been getting all of our rain. it's been an unusually dry/warm spring here. great for my tomatoes and C&S though. :)

ok ok, i surrender. the forecast for the next 10 days has rain/thunderstorms listed for all of them with a high of 70's. i'm in the process of going through all the various outside houseplants and cutting off any rot i find and spraying with cinnamon or putting dry cinnamon on the really bad parts. we normally get humid summers and i'm afraid by august, if the heat ever does join in, the rot will have taken these plants over. not sure if this will work for all of them or if they will like what i'm using but i figure if i at least try to start controlling it now there may be hope later. some of them are doing pretty poorly, especially the cactus, epi, a few orchids are showing yellow leaves. the annual heat loving flowers, zinnias and petunias, tomatoes haven't grown since i put potted them up, all are getting a yellowish cast to their leaves, few flowers. i'm going to try to bring in as many houseplants as i can to dry out, the annuals will have to fend for themselves since room is limited. i'd like these plants separate to check for bugs before mixing them with the ones who stayed inside!

best wishes to everyone else who is dealing with the wet this year, mine are simply various houseplants that i enjoy and i can move them back in if need be since there are only 25 or so that summer outside. my heart goes out for people who are trying to grow vegetables (the local corn is barely visible in the fields!) or people who are collectors and have their precious collections out in this.

Don't worry, there will probably be a ridiculously long heatwave from July to August to even out the below average June. At least the reservoirs are full.

Rain all three days. Perfect Baoboab and Cyphostemma weather! I have a few plants baking under a 400 watt MH light right now, with the HEAT on in the sunroom! June is bursting out all over!

Thursday - hi 85, low 67...is someone really going to turn on the summer switch? Had we blown a circuit or something? Tripped a fuse?
