During my elusive quest for Red-banded Hairstreaks, found this fellow instead... decided to raise it in captivity. Started life as your average acrobatic green looper on Southern Wax Myrtle (Morella cerifera, syn. Myrica cerifera), now it has transformed into this intriguing ?pupa?

Comments, anyone?

    ...but you get what you need.

    Was the larva pictured in its final instar and then went straight to pupa stage?

    Do you agree that the caterpillar has 3 pairs of abdominal prolegs; that narrows down the possibilities a lot.

    I hope you will post pictures of the adult if/when available.
