Climbing vine plants for living wall?
Comments (2)I don't have a clear picture of your intentions, but if you are actually going to allow the plants to cover interior walls, you will have problems with... mold and mildew to say nothing about the actual integrity of the wall. Any wall covered with vines will become moist and this will cause problems. Popular tropical vines that climb include Golden Pathos, philodendrons of numerous species, creeping fig (Ficus), and Monstera. If the environment is humid enough, the vines will even climb the walls and attach themselves to it with their tendrils. I once had a Philodendron start doing this on its own w.o. any encouragement from me. But to actually encourage them to do this is asking for trouble if you ask me....See MoreNeed a climbing vine for hot cinderblock wall
Comments (13)Thanks, Ming. I have high hopes for it. @Grant: Thanks for your info. Yes, the vines are in too much sun but they have been doing ok until now. I read that they don't want any phosphorous so it was the balanced fertilizer that I shouldn't have done. I'm going to take your advice and give them another small dose of Ironex and just wait. I'm new here and just got them in the late winter when they were in bloom. Thanks again....See MoreClimbing To Cover a Shady Wall
Comments (3)Parthenocissus henryana is a very fast growing climber with lovely silvery veined green leaves with a purple underside which is very attractive against a stucco wall. I have one in the UK and it is very successful. It also has a bog standard jasmine that grows through it and adds its scented white flowers in the summer...See MoreWhich vine or vines to cover brick wall on rowhome???
Comments (5)So it's not an 'ugly brick front', it's an ugly formstone front. I'd go with climbing hydrangea if facing north or east. Choose climbing roses if facing south or west. Presumes that you are not severely shaded by other buildings. And formstone says 'city' too me, so might want to go with the climbing hydrangea if you're in the shade of other structures....See MoreTikanas2
