Comments (13)Mara, the Echeveria in the 2nd pic is 'Lotus'. I am aware of a 'Blue Curls' & a 'Blue Curl', which is a very large plant (tissue culture), but have not heard of 'Giant Blue Curls'. Good question, Tiffany, but the plants are so large, the soil cannot be seen. I imagine it's still in a peat-y mix. They make them to retain water while they sit in the stores or are in transit. I'm sure I have many repotting jobs to put on my List! :P...See MoreHe Meant Well thread

You could try to get litmus paper or that aquarium kit. But trust me, once you've been vermicomposting a bit longer, you can make do w/o it. In my case, if I have lots of mites >>> too wet & prolly too acidic >>> add crushed/powdered eggshells & bedding. If the eggshells still show after a week or so, >>> pH is fine, just too wet. I don't spend $$$ on stuff I or the worms don't really need....See Morepool depth for jumping rocks?
Comments (8)A good PB should be able to help you with your questions. Is your grotto going to be placed along the narrow width of the deep end (end) or along the longer length (side) of the pool? If it's to be along the side, I'm sure you've already considered this...you'll need to keep in mind that at some point in the deep end, you will begin your upward grade towards the shallow end, so you will need to consider placing the rock grotto far enough into the deep end so that jumpers reach the deepest part and not the slant. For comparison, I believe that diving board length is around 20 ft, give or take a foot or two depending on the degree of the transition from deep to shallow that the PB requires and the maximum depth of the pool....See Morecactusmcharris, interior BC Z4/5
