Was weeding today and came across this..

A variegated weed???? I have soooooo many of these popping up everywhere every year..never one with white..bright white variegation like this. They are always solid green.

I don't even know what it is. Since it has the variegation I am going to leave it to see what happens.

How do things get variegated?

I do have those weeds in solid green.

Yes leave it and see what you get.. collect the seed and see if comes tru next yr...Even if it is a weed it is pretty cool! No idea what it is???

Irish rose, What a beautiful boy! I lost my 15.5 y/o black lab,lance 15 months ago. He was my best kid ever! I've been wanting a new puppy for a long time but hubby wasn't ready until now and then springs it on me that he wants two puppies not one! I say it's double trouble but what a fun summer we'll have! I got my first lab from a breeder about 17 years ago and paid 550.00 for him. These puppies were an accident! A family friend has a male and female and thought that they could keep the seperate, YA RIGHT! We went to look at them and he said he knew how we loved and cared for our dog so he would sell us the first for 400.00 and the second for 275.00. What a bargain, huh. They are just thrilled that we would take two. The reason that we can't take them is that new hampshire law states that puppies stay with mom until they are 8 weeks old. It feels like forever! Thanks for the link. That purple cat on the cover is amazing. There's an orchid auction at the Nationla Arboretum on March 1st that I'm planning on attending. DH isn't thrilled about spending his Bday at an orchid auction but I really want to go and get some new plants. At least the ones I can afford. I've seen plants that go for thousands of dollars. How can someone spend that much on a little plant is beyond me. $100 is my absolute limit for something in a 6" pot! Karyn

Thanks Jaybird. Kathleen, no kidding about the time they take! I am waiting for him to cross the one month mark so I dont have to set the alarm and wake him up at ungodly hours! I am hoping thats a true statement. Thanks Jeanne. We are truly blessed to experience this. But it does feel like with every milestone, there is the next one to be met! :) Jane, thats so funny. Hi Karen and DD, thank you for the nice comments and for welcoming me back. I'm glad you like the laundry room. It truly is a happy place now and makes the chore of laundry a little sweeter...:). I've been gone for far too long, I'm having a heck of a time trying to read everything I've missed. I didn't even attempt to comment on all the new posts , it would take me forever. But I am so very impressed with everything y'all have done while I was 'missing in action'. I've missed out on some great themes and table settings that's for sure. I am also glad Judith got through her second surgery ok and is feeling a little better. I hope Betty and her DH are doing well and that he is recovering quickly. Judith and Betty, you have been in my thoughts. Kathleen will cause me to gain 50 lbs if I continue to see her beautiful tablesettings and the delicious food. I always leave those posts hungry and pretty soon I won't have to walk at all and people can just simply roll me around...lol. Gosh I just missed all of you and the talent and friendship here. lmao Theresa, that's exactly what I thought when I found it! Now I wish I could win the mega millions, lol. I guess I have to play to win though :p
Figures..all the things I wish to have, and this is what I get, lmao.

Kylie, I def am gonna collect the seed from it. Absolutely NO idea what this weed is. I think I will post a pic of a solid green one on the 'name that plant' forum tomorrow and see what they have to say. They're usually pretty good.

Sowing seeds for weeds, geez, lol.

I'll save you the post, it's a Broadleaf Plantain (Plantago major) & it's a perennial weed.

Dig it up & keep it in a pot or just leave it & watch it where it is. For heaven's sake, don't make more weeds! I have those things & I hate pulling them.

Linda is right on. We have them everywhere but I've never seen a variegated one. Definitely keep it and collect any seed it produces. Once they are variegated I don't think of them as weeds. Just look at the KMOTGG and Polkweed. BTW my nanny used to make some sort of poultice from plantain foliage to use on bruises, sprains, etc. I don't know if it worked but she swore by it.

Karyn, I am going to save the seeds and see what happens with them. Watch something come and eat this orig one, lol. If the seedlings are var like this one, I'm sure I can find a spot for them, lol. We'll see how this baby looks as it gets bigger.

Pretty cool. I have been reading alot about variegate theories lately. One is that it is a virus spread by aphids or other sucking pests. There was a good article on DG not too long ago concerning aroids and variegation.

This year I had a daylily variegate on half the leaves thought it was neat.
