What causes brown spots on buds?

I have a frosty pink brug that is beginning to bloom. My problem is the buds have brown oval circles on one side of the bud that continues to affect the bloom. The bloom tries to open but the brown area keeps that from happening.

It could be some sort of fungus. I've grown brugs for several years, I'm not knowledgeable, however, and this is the first time this has happened. Any one know what this may be?

Daisydo, I'm not that knowledgeable, either. Has it been very hot where you are? Hope someone with more experience than I will post... (bumping this up)-B

It has been very hot, upper 90's with no rain. I have watered every day, but still have mid morning to mid evening drooping. This is the first time I have had blooms this early, usually they don't bloom until late August or early September and bloom until frost. Maybe it is the heat.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I will have to examine closer re: botrytis versus thrips, although I'm sure I have both in abundance lurking around the garden. jplamp: Botrytis is a fairly common, I guess, fungus which infects roses. I'm am going to try an organic fungicide, Serenade, on my roses. Donnaz5: I'll send you an email. Michaelg and everyone: I've purchased something called "Serenade" (Bacillus Subtilis) for the Botrytis on my roses -do any of you have any experience with this? I thought that next year in early Spring I'd rough up the surface soil and actually apply some to the soil, as I understand Botrytis survives winter in the soil. Would this hurt beneficial fungi/bugs? Any thoughts?

I have sort of the same problem. One of my younger ensete is in a huge pot, like 2 others, and it is getting these areas of burn or sick patches. I feed them well, they are in high quality potting mix. The get plenty of water, (I have a drip irrigation system) and full sun. I have one here that's 12ft tall-it's her 3rd summer on my deck. The other two are smaller-I bought them on line this spring. I can't find any info on diseases of Ensete Murelli.

It could be that the sun is being magnified by the droplets of water that are laying on your buds after you water and causing them to scald the buds.
