Mystery Plants - can you help identify, please?

Morning, all...

My neighbor has told me to go ahead and raid her garden for any seeds I'd like. She's got quite a few (nice hollyhocks and yarrows), but there are some that I just can't name. Help?!

I asked my husband to go over and take some digital pics. He got a couple of each, and I threw them together into a webpage at Geocities (it's free, it comes with my Yahoo Mail, and it was there).

My apologies about the quality....I did it in about five minutes and it's bare-bones.

I made a thumbnail of each pic: click on it and the big picture comes out. It seemed to make more sense than just slapping on the huge pics. This forum puts links after "Here Is A Link That Might Be Useful", and I don't know how to change that...so it's there.

And, of course, if any of these are interesting/rare/seedy, I'm very happy to share.

Hi, Merri.

The Mystery Flower seems to be a Monarda. I can't tell the variety--the most common is 'Marshall's Delight'. I only saw the first photo: I couldn't see any of the others because I got this message from Geocities:

"The web site you are trying to access has exceeded its allocated data transfer...Access to this site will be restored within an hour. Please try again later."

i have tons of those they make yellow flowers in spring time after winter they come up every year after they've made the flower i cut um down they remind me of day-lilies.

Cindra is correct, it is Dracunculus vulgaris. We have a couple specimens planted 70 feet from the house and therefore have never been bothered by the (alleged bad) smell. Mind you, there are many things which smell very good in the garden and that may disguise the odor. Worth having for the WOW factor. Cheers, MG Here is a link that might be useful: Our website

*nodding* Yes, that's what I get too. I'm not quite sure how they "portion out" these things, since I was getting the notice even when I was uploading the images.

I don't know very much about image hosting...does anyone here have any ideas?

Meanwhile, I'll see if I can figure out my ISP's webpage info. That might be a better place (if I can ever decipher the *bleeping* instructions!)

And I'll look up some pictures of Monarda and see if they match. Thank you! :)

The fuzzy seed heads look like goldenrod seedheads. Native, quite attractive, but rather weedy. I can't see most of the rest. The clustered seed heads one looks familiar, though, but I can't remember what.

1,2 Not sure which plant you are interested in but there is an asiatic lily and another - for the latter, monarda is a good guess, or maybe a recently-bloomed gaillardia, if not? Foliage would be helpful.
3,4 - yarrow (Achillea millifolium cultivar)
5,6 -yes, goldenrod (Solidago cultivar); maybe weedy in zone 8 but a good, hardy late-bloomer in cold zones; garden cultivars are not invasive, in my experience.
7, 8 - can't see the photos.

Merri, on the advice of several people on this forum, I use Photobucket to host photos I want to post here. It seems to be an easy, reliable site.

Are the parts of this plant aromatic? I wonder, because, from the arrangement and coloration of the spent flowers and the remnants of the leaves (opposite arrangement), it reminds me of oregano - which, by the way, is a hardy perennial herb in zone 3. What do you think?

Photobucket.com is a good hosting site.
I use it and it allows you to insert a tag so your picture will show up right in your post.

I second AB on the yarrow, but perhaps A. ptarmica?
