I have a friend who lives in Flordia and loved it for growing in the winter but as with anywhere choose your neighborhood wisley and check your zoning restrictions. This fellow has lived there for over 15 years and new laws made him get rid of his exhibition chickens. I felt so bad for him. He was retired and loved those birds like they were his kids. that and gang activity is really increasing in his neighborhood so much that he is thinking of moving to another state. Its like anywhere but definatly different than N.C.

thank you for your warning . it seems as if all of our cities are becoming too dangerous to visit .i will keep the gang issue in mind when traveling .

Wasn't your friend & his chickens grandfathered in with the new laws? I went round & round with zoning here over my one chicken that did tricks & went to petting zoos. They insisted I had to get rid of it & ASAP. After almost a year of keeping her inside most of the time, I found out I was grandfathered in & they couldn't say a thing. That bunch of bureaucrats didn't care about fair, they just wanted to throw their weight around & show me who was boss. He'll have to check his laws & see if it will help him.

Eddie, we are going down Friday, to put our place up for sale. I know its not Florida, but it had great potential. If it freeezes, it goes to about 30 degrees for about 20 minutes. We have been forced to sell this property. I have about $30k worth of plant on it. It is almost an acre. I HAVE three water wells, it has a house, built in the 20's with solid wood everthing, and a 3 car stucco garage with an apartment attached. Please let me know if you are interested. I have two friends, who have seen it, and are just waiting until we talk to a realestate agent. they said they will pay whatever the list price is, minus the 6% real estate fee. Oh my gosh Barbra, I hate to hear that. I know how much you loved your place and its so beautiful. I am so sorry you are having to sell it. I know you had planned to retire there. The economy has really gone to crap.

Barbra I'm sorry to hear that you have to sell that property. I hope you find a buyer who will enjoy and care for it. You should definitely dig up and relocate some of your favorite plants.

Linda what are the laws regarding poultry where you are? Surprisingly domesticated fowl are allowed here but the coop must be either 30 or 50 feet from the neighboring property.

Well we just got back from the coast, the realator said our property, was only worth $150k, so there is no way we would sell it for that. We decided to rent out the house, and then use that money to cover the $700 a month in taxes, and insurance, and utilities. We are going to keep the garage, and turn the exta room into a small apartment, so we can still go down on weekends. Its funny how things work out, I never thought to rent out the house, our neighbor suggested it. Last week I was so depressed, about having to sell, now I am excited, about having next door neighbors, I hope its an older couple, that love to garden. Barbra,
