Can you ID this succulent (Possibly Crassula or Sedum)?

Hi all!

This is a friends plant, we've been trying to get it identified, and have had no luck so far. Please feel free to guess, even a genus would be better than nothing!

I certainly agree about Crassula, but don't know which. Nice plant, whatever its name.

Perhaps Roro or Norma will stop by & suggest a further ID.

Yup! you have a succulent called Crassula muscosa (synonym Crassula lycopodioides, but evidence points to 'muscosa' having priority). Easy to propagate, easy to care for, flowers not showy, fairly slow growing. I often like to stick a few strands in other plants' pots.

I think it's called Sedum sprurium "Dragon's Blood" but hope someone can help verify that, please. And I took these cuttings from a neighbour who uses them for ground cover but does anyone know if they will be suitable for indoors in a small pot, like in the photo? Thanks in advance

Gayle Your plants are etiolated, that's why the leaves are so far apart. They look good in photo #2 because it is straight on, but if you look from sides, they are spaced too much - compare to tight rosettes of Harry's plants. I do not have any suggestions as for ID, but this would be same or at least very similar to most. Plants were likely in low light in the store, hopefully they will pick up now. Sunlight coming thru the windows id always less intense than direct, without any obstructions, and often even dappled shade outdoors would make plant color up better than thru the windows. But time will tell :) Would be good to take photo from the same angle (as #1) in about a month to see if any improvement (hope there is!). Btw, are there drainage holes in that container? Can't tell for sure but it looks like one of those that are for walls, and they don't have drainage holes most of the time - or maybe you just put something behind the plant to take photo?...and fooled me :)

This is not a very common plant in cultivation. You might be familiar with other types of crassula, often in unusual shapes and forms(ovata, arborescens, perforata, kimnachii, capitella,.....). While grass-like crassulas exist like yours, they are not cultivated as often, due to several species of sedum being way easier to grow.

That would be excellent, they seem to be the resident ID-ers! Thank you both for the Crassula half of the ID, that goes along with some of the guesses I've gotten so far. My friend has literally taken pieces of this plant to garden centers and farmers market people to try and get an ID. The best he got so far was a guy who guessed Sedum, so I tossed that one into the title too, just in case.

Hey Mel! There's lots of false ID's on this plant when you search but I believe it to be Crassula capitella ssp. thyrsiflora. Very easy to propagate from leaves.

OMG hanzrobo! I see what you mean about all the different photos, but this is what Crassula capitella ssp. thyrsiflora actually looks like??? There are a few pictures that look EXACTLY like this plant in that mix, I think you may have it. Thank you so much, we've seriously been on this mission for a while.
