Off Topic,I need my friends to pray

We had to take my MIL to the hospital yesterday,they admitted her she has blood clots all over she has them in her legs,arms,and both lungs,Please help us pray for "Mom".I am sorry if this upsets anyone but I need my friends to pray.

By the way here is a couple of pictures I wanted you all to see,the first one is my "Cardinal vine"I think from Theresa,the butterfly came in one morning and landed on the back door,then my little buddies that hang out in my plants,and my Grandpas Pipe plant.

"just because it is colder in Iowa doesn't mean it is colder everywhere else." Oh, How true. March 8th my wife and I left Iowa for an extended stay in Florida to try and get warm. Eastern Iowa had been in a cycle of Rain, Ice, Snow every 3-4 days since before Christmas. We just wanted to go south and get warm!!! We hit tennessee day after they got smashed by a blizzard. Went on to Gatlinburg, there it was 50-55. Went to Savanah Ga. It was 60 and rain there. Went down to Venice Fl. 60 and high wind. Couldn't dive because water was so turbulent you couldn't see your guages. Ft. Lauderdale and Deerefield Beach wind off the ocean was 40+ mph and temp not above 60 or so. Went over to Freeport Grand Bahamas for 6 days. Temp never got above 65 most of the time it was 50-55 and rain 4 days out of 6 it rained and had high wind. Tryed diving one morning and the waves came up so badly once we were out and underwater, the dive master came down and called us in and it was almost impossible to get back on the boat as the boat was rocking in 6-8' seas. 21 days gone and only a couple of them did we see 70+ temps. Got back to Iowa and we went right back into the winter rain ice snow cycle and we are still in it right now minus the snow. Still cold enough to freeze outside some nights yet. I just want to be warm. I will gladly put up with 90+ temps and 90% humidity. I am tired of being cold. I would like to break a sweat for a change. I mistakenly did this to a large redbud tree when a kid about 10. Did not strip everything, but more than enough to kill the tree over time. I'm sorry the tree is good as dead, it just hasn't died just yet. Depending upon how high the striping is, you MAYBE can cut the tree off at that level, and MAYBE get a new shoot to form to assume the old canopies place. IF it does sprout it would regenerate much more quickly than a new tree, as the root system will be pushing canopy growth ASAP to replace what was lost. With that said, if regeneration is not fast enough, it still might die. Personally I would try cutting at the strip line (assuming it is a couple feet up), paint the open wood with copper to stop rot, hope for the bes, and then plant a replacement nearby. I would also do the cut NOW, so the tree does not completely expend itself trying to support a canopy that is not able to give anything back. JMHO Arktrees

This was originally posted on Craigslist by a vet tech, in december but I thought it would be helpful for your son's dog. I use Ivermectin sheep/cattle wormer on monthly basis. I have read about Ivermectin being used on all the dogs after the hurricane in New Orleans. That was posted on the Heartworms societys website. This maybe an option worth talking over with the vet. Could save you hundreds of dollars. An infection with larvae as long as two months prior to the initiation of ivermectin treatment will be blocked from development. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?A=610 Ivermectin Only? Melarsomine treatment is expensive and often out of reach for rescue groups, shelters, and many individuals. If the dog is stable (Class I) one option is to simply leave the dog on an ivermectin-based preventive. This option has led to a great deal of misconception about the ability of ivermectin to kill adult heartworms. Let us lay the rumors to rest now: Ivermectin does not kill adult heartworms. Ivermectin does shorten the lifespan of adult heartworms. Ivermectin does sterilize adult heartworms. Ivermectin does kill microfilaria (keeping the dog from being a source of contagion) Ivermectin does kill L3 and L4 larvae (preventing new infections). This means that if one opts to treat a heartworm positive dog with an ivermectin heartworm preventive only, one can expect the dog to remain heartworm positive for a good 2 years and the heartworm disease will be progressing during that 2 years. This is not good for the dog but certainly beats getting no treatment of any kind. This approach should only be considered for patients who are Class I and may be able to withstand 2 years of heartworm infection. Now the theory in doing ivomec treatment only is this. Instead of killing the heartworms fast kill them slower. The heartworm treatment that vets use kill the heartworms faster. The dog given the heartworm treatment must remain calm and on a baby aspirin to prevent clots. Why? Because when the heartworms are killed they don't exit the body like roundworms do. The heart worms head for the lungs and this can cause the lungs bronchi to get clogged therefore the dogs can't breath and die. With the ivomec treatment you prevent the larvae from hatching and sterilize the adult heartworms. The life span of a adult heartworm is less than two years. It is cheaper for animal rescue groups to do this instead of the other. Animal rescue groups take in so many animals that cost is always a factor for them and they have to save money if possible. Instead of posting negative posts of what the original person posted about what vets don't want you to know. Maybe you should thank that person for all the rescues they have done. You see they have rescued over 600 dogs in the last 5 years. Not one time have they lost a dog to the ivomec treatment. I know I am a vet tech that works for the groups veterinarian. I have seen the work they have done and all the lives they have saved. The veterinarian I work for is the one who approves of the ivomec treatment as an option. They have spent over $20,000 dollars a year out of their pocket. They do this because they care. Depending on the vet if he/she only cares about money then they won't tell you about this option. Did you know a heartworm positive dog can be given heartguard but not interceptor. Why? Because interceptor will cause a dog to dies if they are heartworm positive becsuse the ingredients in intercept are stronger than ivomec. You can though give a heartworm positive dog Heartguard. Now there are some vets that will dispute this but the makers of heartguard have said that yes you can give a dog heartguard that is heartworm positive. vet clinic

The trick to Huernia and other stapeliads is to only water when it is a warm sunny day. During the winter no water at all unless it is warm and sunny and then only every few weeks at the most unless you have consistently warm and sunny conditions. Use a soil mix with lots of grit or pumice and skip the peat or coir based soils because they don't usually do well in those for long. Mike

Bonnie, so sorry to hear about your MIL. A blood clot is serious, but several, not good at all, however, with our God nothing is impossible. I pray for her healing and for the family's well-being.

Your photos are great! When the flowers come in on the cardinal vine, it will be fantastic. What a beautiful butterfly, and the frog looks like it just came in out of the snow.

Bonnie..sending good wishes, hugs, and lots of prayers to you and your MIL. It is amazing the meds they have now..my mother had a blood clot in her heart..and they gave her an experimental drug a few years ago..and she is still kicking.

Wishing her a speedy recovery !

I also enjoyed the pictures..we have baby frogs all over the yard this week, they are about the size of a quarter.

Hi all thanks for the prayers and good wishes,the Dr told us today that they are going to do another MRI on her this afternoon and if they dont find any play in her heart they think they will be able to treat with a blood thinner,if it goes the other way then they will have to do surgery,and that really concerns me,I am afraid that if they put her to sleep she...well I cant even say it,this has pretty much put us all over the edge,please keep those prayers going so she won't have to have surgery.
I love my vine,also the little frog he lives in my plants,in fact there are two of them the other is a little darker than the one in the picture,male and female maybe?
Linda the Grandpa's pipe plant is an old plant and I dont know its real name but I like it because it is differant,it kinda grows like a spider plant with long stems and a baby at the end.

It's a Basket plant (Callisia fragrans). We were just talking about it on another thread. It gets long spikes of pink flowers. Mine has yet to bloom. Has yours?

Thanks Karyn,I had no idea what its name was my daughter in law gave me a piece of it last year,the guy she bought it from told her it was a grandpa's pipe plant.That was all I knew about it,because I had never seen one before.No it has not bloomed yet but it looks like it is putting on new spikes so maybe it will.

So sorry to hear about your MIL. WIll be praying for her and your family. If God can raise the dead, heal the deaf and the blind, and save lost sinners, I'm sure he can heal her if it's his will. By the way, the cardinal vine and the frog pictures are awesome!

We found out today that they think that they will be able to treat her with meds,and not have to do surgery,so that is a good thing,she was so afraid that if she had surgery that she would not wake up.Thank you all,for your concern and prayer,I love you all.

Hi all I just got back from the hospital,Mom looked so bad they say she is getting better but they have her on complete bed rest,and she is on 3 diff.kind of pain meds,morphine,loritab,and lyrica,plus her regular meds.They have an IV drip with Heparin,yall please keep praying,she was just in and out,but I guess that is so she don't want to get up,also they have tripled her lasix.Love you guys I will let you all know more when I know more,Hugs to you all.Bonnie

I hope she is feeling better. They just started me on Lyrica last week and it is helping some. Sure does knock me out at night so hopefully she will get some rest with it.

Thank you all for your love and prayers,I know prayers know no distance,you pray where you are and it is just like you are standing in her room.
Kristy,the Lyrica is a good medication,just don't forget you took it and take it again,it will make you feel like you have had about a 12 pk.I am on it for my fibromyalgia,and it has helped a lot,I haven't drank in a long time but one morning last week with all this going on with Mom,her being sick,plus I have been trying to get her house cleaned up for her,then helping sit at the hospital,I am kinda brain dead,so I could not remember if I took my med's or not so I took it again,I had to go to bed LOL.

Thats why they put me on it for the fibromyalgia and the nerve pain from my neck. Hasn't helped the nerve pain so much but it has with the fibromyalgia. I feel much better after sleeping good. I am supposed to start taking a dose in the morning also after the first week and I am thinking no way can I stay awake and function. I actually fell asleep sitting straight up on the way home from Tulsa and I could never sleep in the car before even laying down no matter how exhausted I was. I totally missed going through Dallas and that usually makes me a nervous wreck. I woke up with my mouth hanging wide open and thought eew gross, thats never happened before, lol. Hubby said one minute I was singing and the next I was snoring, lol. Be careful and don't overdo things and hurt yourself or there will be nobody to tend to you. I wish she would move in with you to cut out some of your work load keeping up two houses. Take care of yourself and I am praying for and thinking of you and your family.
