Hello all! I have a bit of a challenge for you, this time. A friend of mine loaded me up with pups of this plant, which we call the "weird" plant.

She has one in a container on her porch, and it is growing tall, with a stalk about 4 feet tall now. Her sister-in-law has the original plant, which is grown on a stalk taller than her house. Both of these mature plants flowered in early February, with inch-long, red/pink trumpet-shaped flowers that hung down from a "crown" at the top of the tallest stalk.

The pups appear to bud off the leaves, drop off, and grow into perfect little plants. I planted these in mid-January - it's been 4 months, and already the leaves are mature enough to be popping off pups like CRAZY. The pups are small, snap right off, or fall, and grow wherever they fall. They can last as pups for amazingly long amounts of time- my friend and her sister-in-law have mailed pups to friends all over the world, and they always grow.

I can't even begin to guess what this plant could even be remotely related to. If anyone has a knack for taxonomy and classification, and can figure it out, I'd be so grateful! This has been nagging me for months.
