name of a common wildflower or weed?

I keep seeing gobs and gobs of this flowering plant, but don't know what it is; nor do I have a photo. I'm in the bay area (Albany) and see it near creeks, roadsides, fields, you name it. The plant is about 2 feet tall and fairly sparse in habit, and is topped off with what seems like equally either lavender or white smallish flowers. From what I have seen, the petals appear to have 4 or 5 oblong, irregular shaped petals. Not a thistle form, not a daisy form. Any ideas?

Wanda, you're the bomb! That's totally it. Thank you so much! I DID sort of think the plants overall reminded me of mustard, which I read from your link, they're in the same family. Thanks again!

Thanks a lot again sir/ma'am saltcedar!., your answers makes me more closer to my goal..,the real scientific/common name of the plant...I'm now searching for the specie of the plant., from Urticaceae family....Boehmeria genus ... and the unidentified specie... the only problem is the leaves and flower/seed .. the green to brown spiky flower/seed...uhm., if you find the specie sir.. thanks again., but I'll also do my best to find it... maybe this will help sir.. http://www.theplantlist.org/browse/A/Urticaceae/Boehmeria/ .....
