Last year was a dud. We didn't see any Monarchs here in our Nova Scotia gardens and did not get to have the pleasure of raising them. Even my nephew, who works for the Dept. of Lands and Forests as a native plants/animal/insect specialist told me he was sad not to see Monarchs in 2009.

Well, I personally have not seen any in my gardens so far this year, but then again, I work all day when they might be about. My DD did take a photo of a female Monarch laying her eggs a few weeks ago to prove to me that they were here and I would be busy soon. :O) We now have 38 crysalis and 21 caterpillars inside the house. My DD and I also counted 23 on one A. Incarnata yesterday in the gardens.

We should start releasing in the next couple of days. YAY!!
