Cloudless Sulphurs

Well, today I decided to bring in the one caterpillar I found. I know it's a Cloudless because they have been all over the Senna hebecarpa and S. bicapsularis. Yesterday I found some eggs (only about 4), and decided I wasn't going to wait for the predators to get them this time. The eggs were on the Christmas Cassia. I cut very long stems (MissSherry, I think you advised to do this, right?) and put them in some water on the front porch in the shade.

At first, I thought the stems were going to wilt terribly, but this morning, they had perked up and are doing fine. I took the leaf the caterpillar was on (hebecarpa) and placed in in the foliage of the Xmas Cassia. I hope it will eat it. What do you think?

I've had tons of eggs that have hatched, but no signs of any cats, so I'm assuming my predator dominant garden this year, is responsible. I'm hoping I can raise a few of them. Has anyone else tried to hand raise them?

Susan
