Arborea and Misc garden Pics

I got my arborea today and it looks like a nice healthy plant. Hopefully it will bloom. There's a couple pics of my new P.exoniensis towards the end. That is such a beautiful passiflora. The rest are just plants that are in bloom. My regular lilacs had almost no blooms, neither did any of my neighbor's trees but my dwarf lilac is covered, strange. Today was the first I've seen of the sun in 9 days. The slugs are everywhere and the grass desperately needs to be mowed. I can imagine what it's going to look like tomorrow after a sunny warm day. I'm glad I'm not the one that mows the lawn. lol BTW can someone please ID the variegated plant in the second to last pic? The non variegated form is a common garden plant. I just can't remember what it is.

I really love the dark daylilies......just too many things to want and cram into my already crowded spaces so i get to enjoy them vicariously through everyone's postings. Thanks Dax, the "little fir" behind the 'Sunshine' is A.k.'Silver Show'. This area of the garden is kind of a grow out bed before I find permanent places for things. Blue Spruce, thanks for the comments. I've started leaving the understock on for longer just like you said. I used to be really impatient and feel like I had to trim things off right away. I just noticed that little spot of understock right at the graft when I posted the pic. I'll nip it off and maybe get rid of the top left understock branch later in the season. It's buggin' me for some reason. The macro shots always seem to make me notice things more : ). Thanks again, Dan

Don, he wasn't my first parrot....He could be likened to finally getting a Porsche, if you're into cars. I brought him home when he was 5 weeks old.... about mid-April, 1999. Here is his baby picture when he came home. I'd been going over to my friend's house (the breeder), to hand feed him when she pulled him from the nestbox. I continued to hand feed him, with what is called "abundance feeding" so he weaned himself, at 22 weeks old, without feeling deprived. He weighed 600 grams as a well fed baby boy, and he weighs that now as an adult. He has beautiful feathers, no fat, great muscle tone especially in his breast which allows him to fly efficiently.....but consider that birds are so aerodynamic, with hollow bones, hollow feathers, they eat moderately frequently, also poop frequently and do it almost EVERY time before they take flight....which is a clue to imminent flight, by the way.

You have some lovely flowers! I don't know what they all are but I do recognize some. What is number 8 down? I like it! I am also wondering about number 14? The variegated plant is really neat but I don't know it. That passion flower is really nice! Do you have to winter them in the GH?
You have an amazing selection of plants!

Karyn no matter what happens to your garden and GH, here you go showing us the most gorgeous flowers again :-)You are right, that passie is to die for.

Let us know if the variegated one is Gazania.

Except for the arborea and exoniensis these are all common plants. My exotics will start blooming later on. I do winter my passies over in the GH but I cut them way back.

Pic #3 and 8 are Scotch Brooms which are considered invasive in the South but I love them. #14 is some sort of grafted cactus that I got years ago. It bloomed for the first time over the winter. The blooms are gorgeous when fully open.

The variegated plant is a Gazania. I wonder if the seeds will produce variegated plants? I've never seen a variegated one before and really like it. I just might have to lift it in the fall and winter it over in the GH. I wish they's have had more at the nursery.

Beautiful as always Karyn! What is that plant on pix 5, 6 and 11 -- are they the same only different colors? I love dogwood and wish I could grow it here. BTW, the slugs really love that yellow flowering plant -- kill those suckers!

Karyn I took a look at my Gazania out there. then another look at the could be from you. the one outside has only single sword like leaves and then the flower.

Of course I have no idea if there are many different varieties with different leave growths also.

Maybe once the flower opens it gives you more clues on what it is? Of if it is one.

Eloise those are all columbines. I have a few other varieties that I didn't take pics of. I just love the blue one. Edna sent that to me last season but it didn't bloom until now.

Karyn I should have waited till the afternoon. When I went to look at the Gazania again...guess what leaves I saw? Yupp...I sure stuck my foot in my mouth again by not knowing my plants ...sorry

So cool Karyn! You always have the most awesome flowers. I sure hope the greenhouse makes it better for my plants this winter than the garage.
