sick jade?

I have a jade plant that has a suspicious looking fungus? It is at the juncture of the leaves and looks like tiny white cotton balls. When I touch it to wipe it away it is sticky and has thin strands, almost like a cobweb. I used an old toothbrush to gently clean it off under running water. Anyone know what this is and should I isolate it from my other plants? thanks

Hello!
Yes, you should isolate the plant so that the infestation doesn't spread.
It sounds like Mealy Bugs, from the cottony description.

Clean the Jade with a Q-tip dipped in water mixed with rubbing alcohol.
Because they can also infest soil, you should change the soil this season.

Hi I'm a rookie with jades, I live in minnesota so my jade is indoors all winter until free of frost, and then it goes outside and the first time I put it outside it got sun burned and it looked like yours, and the leaves all fell off, I put it under a bush for shade and forgot about it because I thought I killed it, was I surprized that fall I had the nices looking jade, it had grow tons of new branches and leaves. could yours have gotten to much sun? hope I helped, linda mn.

I wouldnt be too concerned, it may not even be from a creature, though it does look suspiciously like it. It could have been anything that poked a hole thru the leaf, the generally make spots like that to seal off the wound. I see spots like this on agaves alot around here, its often from a pup growing too large and stabbing its terminal spine thru a mature leaf.

Thank you for the quick response. If I isolate the jade from my other household plants when can I reintroduce. After I see no more infestation for how long? Thankds
