Advice on Sellers on Ebay

I hope it's ok to post this..I'm really a newbie to this forum, although an 'oldie' to Gardenweb.

I planted, and loved 14 different types of Brugmansia last summer. This past fall...ok I spent more time in the evenings out in my yard than the daytime, just to catch the full opening and aroma. I love these plants.

I have alot of the 'basics'... single white and single pink ( they might not have a name but they were are pretty), Canary Bird, Jean Pasko, Strawberry and Cream, Shredded White, Everlasting, etc.

I want to get brave this year and try doubles, and different colors...

I tried trading earlier in the year but I don't think I had any brugs of real interest to other brug collectors...so..

What are some of your favorite sellers on Ebay ? I especially wanted to ask because I saw the post where somebody on Ebay was stealing pictures, and I often have that problem with my sedum pictures being used without my permission on there.

I'd really appreciate your advice on whom to buy from.

There's a number of reliable Ebay sellers. triggerm5215, blicon,7servant7, dogwooderitternet, katz_kuntry_kuttins, eddiedewayne and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. BTW That's in no particular order. There's two nurseries that have very high quality plants, Seed Sprout and Country Gardens. Both of them also sell on Ebay. As for trading it might not have been due to lack of interest but the time of the year. Most of us trade in the fall when we cut our plants back.

I just won my first double brugmansia in December or January, from Eddiewayne, I got New Orleans Lady, and the Mon Amour Del Mareul for about $11 each plus freight. They were both great plants with a good root system. Then I ordered two from Mark,he goes by the name Tigger, I got Daydreams and Adelene, and they were hugh, with a great root system, they were 1 gallon size, they were $16 each plus freight. Then I ordered from 7 servent 7 and got Pink Perkection it was $19.99 plus freight, it was as tall as the others, but came in a 2 inch pot, so the root system was not as established. I lost it, he did replace it, but I had to mail back the dead plant. I have heard great things about Country Gardens, Seed Spout, but they are more expensive. Barbra,

I have bought from 4 ebay sellers including philinshelton, bamboobuddy , booo4U and they all promised to me they will be shipping my boo with the soil or at least some soil included. Philinshelton was the only one that came through as promised with no BS. He started shipping with 6x6" boxes to ship the entire one gallon of soil instead of the way it was done before where it was wrapped in a ball of wet newspaper. His plants are priced better than other sellers and very strong. what else is there.oh ya they came two days after I paid him.

There are a lot of good and honest sellers on ebay, however unfortunately you do get people that are in it completely for the money and beyond that donÂt really care about the quality of what they are selling. I don't believe that ANY seasoned iris grower would try to sell off what you have described. As mentioned above it sounds like what you have is the "mother" rhizome, or else you have rhizomes that were purchased at a box or wholesale store and either cut down or stored so long that the leaves are now gone. Which means you should get lucky with some of them and have small rhizomes starts on the side, but most probably won't do anything. Either way without any leaves at all your chances of the iris blooming the first (and most likely even the second year) are next to none. I donÂt know if the guy purposely ripped you off or just doesnÂt know what heÂs doing, but I would say most likely if heÂs been selling these "bulbs" for awhile then he knows exactly what heÂs selling. I looked up the seller and agree with what ymeador says about the pictures, I would say its extremely unlikely these are anything but packaged iris. Being that you are located in zone 6 I would not wait until next spring to see if they happen to live. People are usually always going to seem nice when they are wanting money from you and I have a suspicion that if this guy doesnÂt have the ebay transaction hanging over his head he will basically tell you too bad. Ebay gives you 90 days from the time the transaction ends before they delete all record of that transaction. If it was me I would probably give them about 2 more weeks, watering them just as you have, to see if there is any signs of growth...the new roots are a good sign, but 40.00 is a lot to pay for 8 rhizomes that just barely live. If there has not been any by that time I would email the seller and ask for a refund, if he refuses then file a fraud complaint with ebay.

I didn't know that, Jenni. Do you just put the html code into your listing as you do on GardenWeb? I ususally just put in one picture which I have on my computer. Have never used a site like photobucket or whatever. Good luck selling. I have two things listed now and no interest yet. I never sell anything worth much and by the time I pay the fees, I don't make much either. It's basically just a way of recycling stuff and making a couple bucks.

It's hard to explain what I mean... I guess what I am getting at is if you were the seller how would you describe your generic snuggie without using the term snuggie? Your item would never come up in searches because people put in the term "snuggie" even to search for generic versions. Ebay really needs to account for a system where people can search for replicas or "like" models of things by keying in the brand. It's hard for a seller to list anything if it is not a brand name... if an item is only known by that brand name. Again, not saying what they did is right, I just think that's why they did it. I'm assuming the listing listed is the one... By new with tags... it doesn't necessarily mean with tags hanging. Many new clothes don't have tags. It generally just means new. Here's ebay's decription: "New with tags: A brand-new, unused, and unworn item (including handmade items) in the original packaging (such as the original box or bag) and/or with the original tags attached. New without tags generally implies they had tags or packaging that was removed. Usually a sweater you never wore. It generally implies the item was bought and not used. The "tag" word is confusing but IMHO the descriptions are really used more to imply exactly how new the item is. I don't think they meant to deceive you with it. By the way, I know I mention they allow returns but I have both a snuggie and a generic version. They are both cheap material. Snuggie's themselves are not known for their great quality. You can probably find some reviews. I think that's why they are so very cheap now. I know you paid for the brand name and want that but if you were really hoping just for a sleeve blanket, I wouldn't doubt the quality of your fakes is just as good as the originals.

Barbra Mark is Triggerm5215. Tigger is Winnie the Pooh's friend : ) I've had a couple plants from Willie (7servent7) that didn't make it but he did replace them and didn't ask me to return the dead plants. The replacement plants that he sent are doing beautifully. The Ebay seller that I'm up in the air about is tctopcat but there's people that will swear by him. The problems I've had have to do with cuttings, not rooted plants. I've received great cuttings and I've also received crap. It seems that the more "exotic" varieties are cut green and don't root as well. If they were a little more mature I think they'd do better or if I was better at rooting green cuttings. lol He does carry a nice variety though and the prices are reasonable.

Welcome Cheryl, I think I saw your post but you were interested in trading brugs I didn't have.

Karyn, that is too funny on your explanation of Triggerm and Tigger. I had a much needed laugh!

My post didn't actually ask for any specific brugs, so you might be thinking of somebody else. I just wanted brugs I didn't have already :o)
I've been looking over Ebay all day...and drooling too of course lol

Karyn, thanks for helping out and explaining the diffrence, I was just going by memory, and we know that is fading fast. Smokymist, I would try Mark, before I would try anyone else. he really did send nice plants, and his frieght was about half of what the others charged. He sent daydreams that was so tall, it broke off while I was transporting it, I stuck the broken end in the dirt and now have 2 nice plants. Eddiewayne also sends nice plants, but you have to bid on his. Barbra,

i recently bought from brenda , seedsprout . i was extremely happy with her cuttings . every cutting lived for me and some was already rooted when she sent them .

I have bought from some E-Bay vendors this spring , they are- missionman: Plants, seeds and unrooted cuttings,--gmac0312: plants, and he sent a bonus too !--Justwestnurseries : nice tall full plants, all noids though,--Angel_man56 :Nice plants, all noids, and he also threw in a few extras,----Katzkuntrykuttins,: very well rooted cuttings.-- And I am waiting from a package from Larr631, it should be in this coming Thursday. These people may not be as well known as some of the others mentioned, but they have sent really nice plants. I am super happy with what I have bought... I don't do paypal, and these sellers did take Money Orders for payment.

The last brugs I got were from elgringo and they were a nice size and well rooted. That grouping came with Peaches and Cream!

Impower56 and mgmg9495 are awesome sellers.. as well as the others mentioned.. There are alot of BIN's for great prices.. One thing you should consider is if you find something to bid on and the price is going up.. Check out SS and CG they may have it cheaper than eaby auction...
